    Some think that platypi are a somewhere between mammals and birds, but the truth is that they are somewhere between mammals and reptiles. They have no feathers, the “duckbill” is a leathery appendage unlike a duck’s, and they have a poisonous bite similar to a snake’s.

    Platypus are monotremes, only one of two examples still extant in our world. The DNA of the platypus was shown to have certain reptilian characteristics. Why it has two poison spurs on its hind legs, why it lays eggs.
