For the same reason it also has a setting that turns bread into uneadible carbon.

The panic button sucks back all the smoke from burned toast.

It sounds off just before your toast turns into a fire hazard.

My toaster has no option for stopping it manually; the toast comes out when it automatically pops up, and not at any other time.

It needs an “abort” button, if not actually a “panic” button.

Something else to quit working just when you need it. I went through 3 microwaves last year.

Hit the button and see! Discover the secret double life of the toaster. My clothes dryer needs a panic button.

The triple-loop toaster design is iconic. Does anyone remember what brand that was?

@ pschearer: It’s a *”Toastmaster” *I have one. It was my parent’s wedding present, whic means it is 60 years old, and it still works. I use it all the time.

Just checked my toaster, it has a ‘cancel’ button.

PANIC would probably be more accurate.
