    My sister’s school instituted a policy. It gets confiscated and the student may retrieve it at the end of the day from the principal. Common sense has to be legislated.

    I’m still against the calculator in the grade schools. Cell phones are one more distraction.

    Cell phones are one more distraction - until your neighborhood nut starts terrorizing the school; then cell phones become the only contact between the outside world and the hostages.

    As the son of whose father is in the education game, I’m 100% for that. TURN OFF THOSE PHONES DURING THE SCHOOL DAY! During recess, lunch, or between classes, NO WAY! Because you’d still be able to recieve by text message the tests’ answers.
