    Well…

Some how or some way it’s up to Yenny to carry on the modeling legacy… she just can’t get pregnant along the way that is…

    But I don’t get why Yunny didn’t continue being a model after Yenny… hmmm…

I’m willing to suspend my disbelief fmilling18. Let Dave tell his story. I’m sure your concern will be addressed.

Wasn’t Yunissa a high-powered professional executive sometime ago?

It’s really a pity that models in real life aren’t curvy and feminine like Yunny and Yenny - they both look like women, not like starved 9-year-old boys.

    You know how it is.

For at least the first few years, she’s gotta take care of the baby. How long that lasts depends on a lot of factors, such as getting baby-sitters.

After that, she’s been out of the business for a while. It’s a hard enough business to break into in the first place, but even harder to re-break in after a long hiatus.

Then who knows what kinds of stretchmarks and age-lines she may have that Dave doesn’t draw because it’s too much detail. She sure ain’t 25 no more.

That’s another part of the problem too. For whatever reason, the modeling industry has gotten into a rut where anyone who doesn’t match that profile hasn’t got a chance.

It’s really a shame because it makes a lot of very beautiful women look in the mirror and start crying about being “too fat.” Well, maybe you ain’t no 80 pound beanpole like those catwalk models, but you sure ain’t fat!

So, the older Yunny gets, the less chance she has of looking like that 9-year-old boy.

That sure is the truth. I am far from fat, but I do have a large frame. I saw on TV this segment about “plus” size models, and there was nothing “plus” about them. They were beautiful women with curves and actually looked like women!
I know the feeling of looking a mirror and crying about size. I was not fat, but it caused me to stop eating, caused several mental issues (such as feeling guilty when I did eat.)
It wasnt until I realized that my curves make me sexy that I finally got over it.

Just glad to see that more people understand this type of thing!

    To jetblue

Very true… I guess we’ll just have to wait and see the story unfold…
Dave always has something interesting up his creative sleeves.

    UncaAlby:

Ha… true… Yunny may not BE 25 anymore, but does she really look anything older than her daughter? With her extremely graceful aging, she could have had a small chance to return at some point later in life after Yenny’s early years… Oh well…

    Referring to what ejcapulet said….

I totally agree. It’s kinda sad too because the modeling agencies probably don’t realize that the people who are actually going to buy their clothes are women who do indeed HAVE curves and look far from those “9 year old boy body” models…

In my opinion, I just wish some new modeling company or companies could break the social mold and feature more Yenny type women…you know…curvy women…

    To cmacdoughtry:

Definitely… It is a shame, I’ve read a ton of horror stories and seen many pictures of women living in misery with Anorexia and Bulimia trying to “force” themselves to look beautiful, when alas, they were beautiful from the start…

I suppose after she had Yenny, Yummy decided to spend all her time raising her and left the job market.

    You’ve got it ejcapulet!

I love a women with meat on her bones. Baby’s gotta have back with me! Big butts forever!

That is one of the reasons I love Yenny!

Forget those beanpoles - I feel sorry for ‘em.

I thought the only reason modeling agencies and fashion show coordinators pick those kind of women was because that figure made you focus on the clothing and not the model wearing them.

    To Jim:

YES!!!! I definitely look forward to the outcome of that…

    There is hope yet!

    DeeBerg13:

I totally agree… couldn’t have said it better myself! LOL!

    Razorback2824

That is true, they do pick those particular models for that very reason, but the thing that gets me is if people really wanted to just focus on the clothes, modeling companies might as well just display their products on hangers, not the living organic equivalents of hangers!

The focus should be the clothes and how they compliment the body of the person who’s wearing them… because in the real world, real people, with the “norm” of varying body sizes and curves will be wearing the company’s clothes and society’s focus will be not only on them, but how they look with the figure of the wearer as well, probably even more exclusively with how they look on the body…

To me, the curves of the body and how they work in the fashion world, is just as important as the clothing, if not, more important.

Then again, most hispanic models are curvy. Maybe it’s a US thing?

    fmilling18, right on!

    Burgundy2, you are welcome!

My wife looked like Yenny when we first met and got married.

Now, thank the all mighty, she is larger version of Yunny. Hot Dog!

(I will spare you by not telling you what I’m a larger version of.)

She got a real kick out of this strip and the comments.

Thanx all, especially Dave for drawing \ writing \ whatever else is involved in creating this wonderful comic strip.

Yeah, I think it’s that. Over here models are extremely curvy except or those who do really profitable catwalk modeling. Believe it or not, I used to be Zoolander, (a male model…agh).(For evidence of skinny me in modeling/acting/crappy days click here: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v417/muppetmonkey/1mr.jpg )

I did some commercials and photo stuff but that didn’t last long. It’s a weird world in which superficiality reigns. I made the switch from Zacha and Anyelin to Yenny when I was deep into the modeling stuff and I met extremely beautiful girls who were rejected for some minor physical details. I remember one who couldn’t make it because of a round birthmark on her belly. They told her it was too distracting for a swimsuit catwalk. That was back in the 90’s/2000 when belly baring attires where very in thanks to Britney Spears

So basically, yomar is based on you as a model?

  19. Dave Alvarez

Dave AlvarezGenius_badge said, about 1 month ago

LOL I heard that one before. Some people say that but I created Yomar just to enlarge Yenny’s family tree.

I did created Yenny’s modeling desires in those days

Yomar was the first family member to appear on the strip and that opened the doors for Keyla, Tia Petra, Rafa and everyone else.
