well some one help us non spanish speakers. What does Ma Rayo Parta Mean??

I believe it means something a little obscene. That’s why it’s in Spanish. Something about genitalia.

I think, loosely translated, it means “I’m coming!”
If you read Yenny en Espanol, the punchline is different, and leaves a bit less doubt as to what that kid has been overhearing :)

This is one is very different from the Spanish version at the end….anyways…
“Ma’ rayo parta” is like “What the hell” or “damn it” or “fu**”. It’s a slang and saying that’s said when something bad happens to you, or some one do something bad to you. As far as I know it’s a saying I’ve only heard here in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, I can be mistaken though and may be used in other Spanish talking countries.
Roughly translated it is a slang that comes from “Mal rayo lo parta” = “May bad lighting split him”…. translating and using slang on other than the language they were created is hard and sometimes impossible. Hope that helps!

Edit: it isn’t only used when something bad happens, it used when bad and good things happens to you, or someone does then to you.

I think this is by far one of the best strips you have done in a while. Zacha’s last line is the perfect punchline. And her just talking like that is both surprising and an expected twist. I can see her as a modern Tweety.

Literally, it means ’May (bad!) lightning strike you!’

Hmmm– would love to read the strip in castellano…;)

Oops– redundant here…scrolled too quickly over earlier comments…

This is a good line. Still I like the strip where the little sister was looking a Yenney’s butt and realized she was looking at her future.
