Does Keyla drive a stretch limo?

“Patient” not “patience”.

Correct, Buzz. Once again the strip would benefit greatly from David having an English editor. “Gotta have patience” or “Gotta be patient”, not “Gotta be patience”. I’m sure any number of fans (myself included) would be happy to do it for free for David, maybe one of these days he’ll take someone up on the offer.

I would also love to be an English editor for this comic; HOWEVER, I think the broken English is actually quite cute. It’s just endearing in a way. I kind of feel like it gives the characters an extra dimension. They have personality in the way they speak, and that’s never a bad thing.

A agree with PatchworkDoll; Yenny’s usage may be ideosyncratic, but it’s perfectly understandable… like Ricky Ricardo’s!

Oh, I cannot wait to see Keyla’s ride. It could be a convertable.

Nothing cute about the “broken English” when real flesh and blood Boricuas are speaking and writing that way.
College students, including graduate students. It’s pathetic.
Seems to be limited to Yenny’s dumb-ass clan, though, no?

To some people it is “broken English;” to others it is the richness of dialect. There’s room for both. Personally I love the way Yenny speaks.

Strange… Spanglish (English words, Spanish grammar) and Chinglish (English words, Chinese grammar) are pretty much the same. I’m forever telling my Chinese students when they claim to be ‘boring’: “I am the teacher, therefore I am boring; you are the student, therefore you are bored - when you are a teacher you can be as boring as you want.”

@HectorPriam: If she keeps sitting like that, I’ll need to be picked up off the ground.
