Some would say they were being hypocritical-
    =
Others would say they were feeling as thioug they were a step above a celebrity athlete that “deserved to be knocked off their pedestal”, once we put said person upon it……

…and thereby living in glass houses, so that they were exempt from ‘three fingers pointing back at them’ upon their own hand….

Sad but at least Lance will die quickly where they will live on a long time costing us all a fortune in medical costs to keep them alive.
Fast Food and Steroids both will kill you.

Like the inventor/creator of the jogging frenzy.
    Died while jogging.
But in his defense it was not any thing anyone else was doing the whole time. Money was paid on many levels to get that cheating done from Top to Bottom. It was not pulled off without inside help from the Tour De France group.
Just like Oliver North….there has to be a fall guy.

Veteran: Oliver North? That guy that sold weapons to Khomeni to pay for overthrowing a duly elected government in Nicaragua and lied before Congress while wearing a bunch of service ribbons, some of which he awarded himself for overthrowing another duly elected government in Grenada, thereby getting a well-paying job on a television network illegally obtained by a foreigner who got a special US citizenship by bribing a Speaker of the House with a $20 million book deal in which the Aussie would provide the authors? That Oliver North? There doesn’t have to be a conspiracy, just a lot of interlocking graft and corruption.

True, but the way they’re drawn that would be two fingers pointing back at them.

But he not do it all by his little self……our CIA is alive and well, at least it was back then. Oliver North was doing exactly as he was instructed with full political backing from all sides. Just when it went public……deniability on all sides. North was left holding the bag and he took the fall because he knew in the long run he would come out ahead and rich.
You know now recent tapes of Nixon have emerged in which he advises sending in covert unit into Viet Nam while pulling soldiers out. I know. I was one of them who was sent in….all hush hush….no records….just a blank 10 month mark on my military record marked classified.
The point is as you say…graft and corruption run the gambit of the Tour De France….just like the Olympics….who ever makes the biggest bribes gets the games. You do know for Brazil they will tear down thousands of homes in the favelas to make room. Unlike China who built new digs…Brazil wont pay a dime….these folks are dirt poor so unworthy of consideration.
Just North was the character I used to show the corruption and behind the scenes dealings going on because like North no one gets away with it all alone.

I can believe he broke the rules of the professional competition he entered specifically to make money. What I have a hard time believing is how nastily he tried to bully and trash the reputations of anyone who accurately said that that was what he did. Real class act.

James F. Fixx, whose book “The Complete Book or Running” helped popularize running for the average person, died far too young at the age of 52 of a heart attack, but you have to put it into context. His family had a history of heart trouble and he lived longer than his father and brothers, all of whom dies of heart disease. not fair or complete to suggest that “jogging” killed him.
