    Social skills always eluded me. A birth defect in the brain does it. Doesn’t affect anything else. Just the proper responses. So fast they are well nigh subliminal. It is like consciously controlling your heart rate and blood pressure.

    On the other hand, playing WoW isn’t likely to do much for your social skills. My kid asked me to define “inane drivel”, so I had him read 30 minutes of “Barrens Chat” (Now known as the trade channel). He cried.

    If Roy can actually get a woman to marry him despite all his faults, he can certainly learn to socialize with the rest of the population.

    @Sack of Rabid Weasels

    We’ve explained this many times before, but here goes again: Kathy is very much like Roy. She shares the same interests. Maybe not as intensely, or as delusionally, but it’s not like he got Carolina or Sue or any of the other women to marry him. I should keep this explanation on hand for the next time somebody needs it.

    Stop eating donuts! Stop eating junk food! Lose weight.
    This is only the 2nd time I’ve heard of world of warcraft.

    Really? We’ve mentioned WoW more times than I can count. I myself have never played it, but then, I (gasp) don’t play video games.

    As for Roy’s weight- we gave readers a taste of what a skinny Roy would look like last week and many found it unsettling.

    WoW has around 10 million subscribers making it the most popular massively multiple online player game ever.

    @Thomas Scott Roberts… awww, are you saying that Kathy isn’t as ‘normal’ as Carolina or Sue? ;-)

    Well, honestly, who wants to be ‘normal’? Kathy is unique (just like the rest of them), which is way better than ‘normal’. Roy just needs to keep being Roy.

    I love every member of this strip for their own uniqueness. I like a strip where I can identify with a character (Kathy) or see my family/friends/co-workers in other characters.

    I once heard that “normal” is just a word selected by boring people in an attempt to put down those of us who are more interesting.

    Seriously, though, I have always been too shy to make friends by myself; Cuddles Cockatoo (as my alter-ego) was a great ice breaker, and my new friend is a performer ;-) My BP has been very easy to control just with breathing in the last few weeks (135/71 this morning- no meds).

    I am sad to hear yet again a reference to a ‘defect’. I have read your posts for some time and am sure you are more open minded than that suggests. Don’t let these mass population stereotypes keep their grip. I think they are the real subliminal defect.
    I once had a shrink tell me my anxiety levels were abnormally high. I couldn’t help but wonder if all of you who are not like me have levels too low. I have learned things about being human that would have eluded me if I was ‘normal’. I want nothing to do with such things.

    @Thomas Scott Roberts: Regarding your dad’s pronunciation of “horse doovers” yesterday, my college roommate’s girl friend always pronounced the phrase “horse ovaries”.
