Working Daze follows the employees trapped at MacroMicroMedia. MMM is a wanna-be software giant, and it's staffed by geeks and clueless management types. VP Rita will try anything that might make a little money (though her ideas usually don't.) Underpaid Dana carries he place and keeps it running, while overpaid Ed sleeps all day. Roy and Kathy are made for each other, and everyman Jay never knows when to keep his opinions to himself. Writer/creator John Zakour is a humor/sci-fi writer, whose work includes the Zach Johnson detective novels. Artist Scott Roberts was a longtime contributor to Nickelodeon Magazine, and is the author of the fantasy novel The Troubling Stone. John and Scott met when they both worked on the Rugrats newspaper strip.

Roy is naive and innocent. And yes, the Simpsons ain’t what it used to be.

Excuse me? The Great Pumpkin does not exist? WHAT? NO NO NO! Time for “Yes, Virgil, there is a Great Pumpkin.” Frankly, I’d rather believe in the Great Pumpkin! How many wars have begun because of the Great Pumpkin? How many people have been murdered for not believing in the Great Pumpkin! Answers None and Zero. Frankly, I’d almost start a religion praising the Great Pumpkin for that alone, if I didn’t KNOW that someday, somewhere somebody would start invoking the Great Pumpkin to excuse war, murder and other ills of humanity and bugger it all up!

Jay. You can say what you want about the Great Pumpkin not being real, but you’ll never convince Linus of that. He is steadfast in his beliefs & nothing you say will change his mind.

If you’re following the Peanuts reruns on the site, Linus has just sunk his chance to be school president by stopping in his final campaign speech for a few words about the Great Pumpkin. Candidates have been blown out of the water for less.

Ah, but followers of the Flying Spagetti Monster have wreaked no havoc on the world. His Noodly Goodness inspires no hatred or discontent.

I actually find the Simpsons, though not what it was in its prime still a show worth watching as it does constantly generate more laughs than just about any other show on TV. I do find Modern Family, Raising Hope and Psych funnier.
As for Roy, no he is not an idiot but his glasses are especially rose colored.

Yeah, that was around when I stopped watching it, too… they just seemed to be recycling old gags and not having the same funny spark that they used to. Then some of the new writers were just “meh”… the whole “pulling the collar to show nervousness” gag was just awkward and stupid. :-s

and I for one, thank the Great Pumpkin and the Flying Spaghetti Monster for those glasses and wish more of us wore them!

I could make a list of the gags and schtick that later writers brought to the Simpsons that veer away from, as burleigh2 said, the spark the show had. But I won’t take the space here!

C’mon people, the Great Pumpkin is REAL, and now we know why. Didn’t anyone see Tim Burton’s 1993 film on how he got his start?
