Could still be lethargic and anti-social.

I’ve met some mighty sociable dogs !
Maybe he meant to make it some other cat.

Most cats I’ve run into are sociable, but a percent are nasty. Same way with dogs.
    .
A lot of it depends on how a person approaches a cat or dog. A “neighborhood cat” up in washington let my brother and I pet it. it flopped and just purred. Another relative tried later and got scratched. As friendly as the cat was, I wonder how she approached it.

Dog lovers may take issue with the premise here.

The British mobile phone company O2 are currently running an advertising campaign encouraging their customers to “Be More Dog”.
Perhaps they should employ the Wiz as an advisor.

Perhaps the premiss is that being a dog, it will be less lethargic and anti-social. That more closely matches my over all impression of the critters. And of course everyone, including me, has had experiences to the contrary.

Neighbourhood cats – I always greet and then ask if they want their ears scratched. Dogs – Always ask the human with them. Never pet a strange dog. That’s what we teach the kids.
