The Wizard of Id has been enchanting audiences since 1964, but the real wizards behind this comic classic were artist Brant Parker and writer Johnny Hart.
The pair began paving the path to the Kingdom of Id in 1950, when Parker, a staff artist for the Binghamton Press in upstate New York, was asked to judge a high school art contest. Among the entrants was a teenager by the name of Johnny Hart, whose work so impressed Parker that he arranged a meeting.

Aye Fink. And not just any random fingers.

I’d rather give most politicians the bird than walk across the street to meet them.

And how many here just learned that they are part of the 1% by seeing your taxes just go up and your take home pay go down???

Cheer up, Your Majesty. It could’ve been worse: not raised fingers, but raised, clenched fists. Especially if clenched around the handles of assault pitchforks.

the strip is political today, so it’s natural result.

“And now..the political comments follow!”
.
Here’s a grammar comment.
.
The king’s first panel balloon should, in my opinion anyway, read:
.
“Show of hands…who thinks his or her taxes are too high?”
.
“Who” is singular, and “their” is plural.
.
It’s a comic strip but I’ll be pedantic anyway.
.
This strip is set in medieval times and the chances of a woman paying taxes are slim. Even if she were paying taxes her sex would automatically be included by custom in:
.
“….hands….who thinks his taxes are…”

Okay … I don’t mind a little POLITE political discourse … and yes, some strips do invite it eg Doonesbury, Non-sequitur.
However, the level of vitriolic … anger, abuse … you’d think that the left wanted to resurrect and elect Stalin, and the right wanted to do the same with Hitler!
All I’m asking for is a little civility, perspective and tolerance.
Fat chance, right?

I look at the comments sections on here in the hope of finding witty comments. Sadly, all too often, the comments are hijacked by the worst and most mindless extreme political rants. The interesting aspect of that is that while these comments are read around the world, those comments are 100% American. What a sad and angry country.

Don’t know about others, but my taxes did not raise, my SS returned to normal.

Id appears to be a post apocalyptic dystopia due to the many anacronisms seen in the strip over the years.

Not me, and any working person I know. I work at a very large concern.

I’m afraid you are incorrect there are at least two posters here comment on American Politics who are not American (probably more). I know Dr Canuk is Canadian (big surprise) and Morty is German.
