These must be the new “horseless carriages” I’ve heard about.

I’d like to drive a Smart car sometime, but I would never want to own one.

The 10% rule, one should be at least 10% smarter than the equipment they are operating. No wonder “Smart Cars” aren’t selling….;-)

Smart cars sell very well in Europe – and frankly, I drive one here in the US. I only need room for one (drive it mostly for work), though I have had very large people in my passenger seat (one guy 6’5", another over 300 lbs.). I’ve taken it cross country with no problems, get 42 mpg with regular unleaded, have hit a deer at 60 mph and was able to drive home – got rear-ended by a Jeep and was able to drive home, though the Jeep had to be towed. All in all, it’s not for everyone, but I’ve had mine for four years, and it’s been a good car for my purposes.

Smart Cars also have front and side airbags and their ‘cage’ is built to race car standards. Just remember – they are built by Mercedes.
