The Wizard of Id has been enchanting audiences since 1964, but the real wizards behind this comic classic were artist Brant Parker and writer Johnny Hart.
The pair began paving the path to the Kingdom of Id in 1950, when Parker, a staff artist for the Binghamton Press in upstate New York, was asked to judge a high school art contest. Among the entrants was a teenager by the name of Johnny Hart, whose work so impressed Parker that he arranged a meeting.

The air pollution in Id must be worse than in China.

It’s like the former east bloc. The pollution from Poland, East German, Czechoslovakia, and the USSR west of the Urals routinely made it to Alaska in the 1980s. It was called “the brown cloud.”
.
The metals fallout from industrial plants with no pollution controls meant that lead, cadmium and other fun things got into crops. Carrots had to be tested for lead before kids could eat them in the former country of Czechoslovakia.
.
Today, of course, our environmental lobby is soooo much smarter than those socialists were. With tens of millions of acres of forest burned catastrophically due to lawsuits preventing maintenance and species being pushed to extinction by their activism.

@Nabuquduriuzhur
…today, of course, the Evil Empire is in the forefront of maintaining a “clean environment” at home…by pushing all their contaminating industries to the countries inhabited by us lesser breeds without the law, and then dumping their poisonous wastes on us too. While not invading us, that is.

Oz’s carbon tax will pay for it.

@King Shark
Sounds like wherever you are, you’ve got leaders like those here in the capital of the Empire.
Gov. Schweitzer of Montana ( the kind of man Diogenes always looked for) in describing the influence of money in Montana 100 years ago which led to the passage of clean elections laws there (until recent Citizens United ruling) and one of those super rich who bought politicians
(William A. Clarke):
“Never bought a guy who wasn’t for sale”.
Submit this may be the problem in your neck of the woods, too.

@Nab
Environmentalists?
Forget it, they haven’t got the bucks to make any noticeable improvement here.
Socialists?
Eugene V. Debs, candidate for 3rd party Socialists of America 100 years ago, 1912 and 1920, also had the same problem with the boys with the big bucks.

@Nab
Debs was also the 3rd party candidate in 1900. 1904, and 1908. Another one of those guys Diogenes was looking for.

Sure and Rod’s right your Finkness…that chunk of Id air looks to me to be 100% pure Id air……nothing wrong there..unless Rod somehow got the Id sample, and the LA air mixed up?

It’s nice to have air that you can sink your teeth into. As opposed to stuff you aren’t sure is really there.
