The pair began paving the path to the Kingdom of Id in 1950, when Parker, a staff artist for the Binghamton Press in upstate New York, was asked to judge a high school art contest. Among the entrants was a teenager by the name of Johnny Hart, whose work so impressed Parker that he arranged a meeting.

Hey sjoujke,
My Dad use to say “It’s not the cough that carries you off . It’s the coffin they carry you off in.”

As Johnny Cash used to sing! —-I don’t care if I do die… do die… do die…do die.

why is johnny hart’s name on this strip when he died?
Wildmustang1262 said, 3 months ago
He probably has grave health problem.
crunkbot said, 3 months ago
A doc in modern dress with nametag and clipboard, “tests” and a framed diploma?… nothing about this is consistent with the supposed medieval setting of this strip.
Why not have it be a fortune-teller and a peasant?
grazer said, 3 months ago
Agreed, crunkbot. Some comics reflect very little humor, thought, art and time. This has become one of them.
It’s the witty comments that bring me here.

You chose to not ‘shape up’, so now you can ‘ship out’.

Superfrog and sjoujke,
My grandfather used to say,
“It’s not the coughin’ you do often,
It’s the coffin that they carry you off in.”
