The pair began paving the path to the Kingdom of Id in 1950, when Parker, a staff artist for the Binghamton Press in upstate New York, was asked to judge a high school art contest. Among the entrants was a teenager by the name of Johnny Hart, whose work so impressed Parker that he arranged a meeting.

The king makes a good point.

The King makes a necessary point, but not a sufficient one. A lot of his fellow tyrants have used that justification to enforce their arbitrary whims.
Most people who ask for “less government” – at least in the US – think common defense and other “basic things” should be inviolate. What they want is less governmental intrusion beyond those “basic things”. And that’s where the arguments start.

I rather think fink’s simply washing his hands of the responsibility should the huns take over.

Does this mean the KING defends the kingdom personally?
Does this mean the KING fights the huns personally?
Or does this mean the king won’ t run and hide if the huns attack?

One of the FEW things our Constitution give to the federal government is to defend our boarders
jimpow said, 4 months ago
That’s “borders,” not “boarders.” Of course, if “boarders” are those who post here, please protect us.

The King of Id reminds me of when the George W. Bush Administration was in the White House.
It was because of his “regime” that many according to the Constitution of the United States of America law-abiding citizens lost their right to privacy.
The irony of this whole comic strip is that no one in the Kingdom of Id likes the King and yet they cannot even get rid of him.
Sir Rodney is the head of the military and he is stupid.

Defense should be the primary role of our government, not something that can be put aside as a la carte.
We do the Capitol offices need to be redecorated every two - four years.
Decaorate all of them in vibrant orange and see if they finally step down.
(Add aquamarine accents for the final withdrawal of the lazy bums, who are the huns!. )

Ladywolf17, yes the king makes a good point.. People sometimes forget that government is necessary and important.
And, as the king indicates, one of the most important functions of government is protection of the people – not just protection from the “Huns” but from all who would do harm to the people.
Many years ago the king gave a different perspective (one all too close to reality). He follows they “Golden Rule.” That is: “He who has the gold makes the rules.” (Thisis one of the reasons the king of Id is so “loved” by the people of Id (are they called “Idiots”?)–“loved” meaning they love to throw things at him)

We all hate taxes, and laws, but then we want someone to enforce the law if we are in danger, and we want garbage pickup, and water out of the tap. We want a manager to make everything work well, also. Hence, “the King”. Joe Allan Doty- the only people who are really mad about others overhearing their phone calls are those who are speaking Erdu, Pashti, and Arabic. If you have nothing to hide, why are you whining?

See, the arguments have started already. :)
Of course this isn’t a political forum, and I didn’t mean to turn it into one, but I stand by my position. (I notice that no one has really answered it, let alone refuted it.) King Fink is anything BUT right, if he just stops there.

Politically speaking this is just a cartoon drawn and commented by Parker and Hart. If you want to have a political forum talk to your elected representatives, after all they work for you.

the kings outburst is appropriate here,at least once not being sleep inducing, that homeland security is the primadonna job of governance above everything else and not burdening citizens with irksome regulations and codes.
