PSA test not the same as digital exam. Sometimes “old school” is better than “new”?

I expect some conservative to say that this is another instance of the government wanting to stick it up our rear ends.

Denial first, then death panels. Thanks Obama. Failure is his only option.

I recently passed a 3mm x 7mm kidney stone. My doctor said I get an automatic pass on my prostate exam for the next few years :)

Wait for a boring, rainy day with your wife on vacation and find a female urologist…

30% false positives, 30% false negatives; no wonder all nations with better health services (for everyone, not just the rich) have abandoned this useless, but money-making, test.

A PSA test saved my life and found my cancer very early. You will notice those who say you don’t need to get the test do not have prostate cance

If you feel two hands on your shoulders, it’s not a good prostate exam…

Garysr87, yes valid point, but “digital” and other than drastic measures are often sufficient, as my urologist pointed out. In fact, his experience was that while one cancer form DOES require surgery, several others are rather “benign” and as he pointed out, even WITH those forms of cancer, your FAR more likely to die of something else, obviously “first”. A friend was treated in Mexico, by his U.S. doctor with a procedure not “authorized” here yet, non-“surgical”, and he’s doing fine four years out.
