THings were fine during the first 6 years of the Bush presidency - fine until the Dims took over congress - then it went all to hell in a handbasket

Yeah, all that happened during the first six years were massive deficits, 4000 Americans killed in Iraq (and about five times that many wounded), the destruction of our reputation for honesty (what WMD?) and decency (waterboarding), and a good go at dismantling the rule of law. Oh, and lousy economic growth with stagnant wages for everybody but the top 1% of earners. That may qualify as “fine” in your book, but not mine.

Paul your attempt at revisionist history is pretty weak. I would draw a parallel between you and a parrot, but parrots have been shown to be quite intelligent despite their diminutive brains.

    Clinton was no saint.
But he was still better than Bush.

If you dig deep enough, you can blame the crisis on anyone. The ideas of the Enlightement (Voltaire, Montesquieu, Hobbes, Kant…) inspired capitalism… If they had not inspired capitalism, it couldn’t be in crisis right now…it’s the moonbat enlightenment philosopher’s fault!!!

    Ridiculous!

The question of “who’s fault is it” is a waste of time. What we should ask right now is “What will we do about it”

By the way, Hobbes, Voltaire and the gang were seen as what we now call moonbats back then, so I always take “Moonbat” as a compliment

CF, who’s fault belongs to the Federal Reserve. Google in any direction and read all about this evil pack of banksters that sold America down the drain back in 1913.

StewieZ by your line of reasoning we have a whole bunch of clever dead-beats in this country or a whole lot of stupid bankers. Which is it?

We have an abundance of both, and don’t forget real estate tax assessors.
After all, their combined blind greed paid for three of my houses (which used to be 401k retirement funds.)
Now, they’re paying for my motoryacht… (even with the crowd of “deadbeats” still owing me over 20 Gs!)
    Viva America.

Stew – will you ever acknowledge the huge layer of unregulated voodoo that went on AFTER people signed mortgages that they may or may not have been able to afford at the time? Some people got foreclosed on by getting laid off.

Why on earth could anybody and their mother insure themselves against a mortgage defaulting?
