    The recurring theme of Chairs is an appropriate story line; however, is it actually Musical Chairs? And, which country shall be left standing at the end of this game?

    Probably NONE.
    Remember Middle Eastern Politics work this way.
    No matter what kind of Regime, (Democratic, Monarchy , Secular, or Military Dictatorship), there are always going to be wingnuts in that region.
    Some Wingnut is going to think “GOD” has touched him and he should be in charge of the country.
    He will amass several other wingnuts who will start blowing up people, places and things, and destabalize the current administration.
    Then he is in charge….the problem is there is a NEW Wingnut who thinks “GOD” has decided HE should be in charge instead of the current wingnut….. and it all starts over again.

    Musical chairs…? Wingnuts…?

    :-|

    If you have no idea, say nothing?

    Bleibel shows the spectre of violence overshadowing Lebanese presidential & parliamentaryelections just as violence has overshadowed the elections in other countries in the region:
    Egypt: hundreds summarily sentenced to death;
    Syria: presidential elections a mockery when the country is in the throes of a civil war;
    Iraq: Elections underway with the usual suicide bombings continuing unabated.

    @ Michyle Glen: George W. Bush thought he had a direct line to God and Blair wasn’t that far behind. You mention religious wingnuts in other countries without a hint of irony…? Isn’t that how Western politics work? You don’t have religious wingnuts in your country who think GOD or Jesus has touched them…?
    "He will amass several other wingnuts who will start blowing up people, places and things, and destabalize the current administration. "
    You do realise you’ve just alluded to G.W.Bush again…?

    …what a bunch of hypocrites…sheesh!

    I’m an atheist and have no problem with President’s saying that they’ve prayed for God’s guidance.

    What you’re displaying is moral relativism.
