   Everyone likes a politician that gives away free stuff! Chavez was getting money from O to drill for oil, so he could make a million dollars a day being dictator.

   The poor have indeed benefited more under his benevolence. However, that has been at the cost of personal freedoms, press independence and much higher crime. His bloody ego got in the way fairly early on. The poor would benefit more if he stopped trying to be an idol to them.

   He claims to be a friend of the people. If he really is he should resign, publicly, and hand everything over to his chosen guy. If he dies without a successor there will be chaos, and the people don’t need or like that…
