I’m puzzled. Did Kenya suddenly become Latin American?
    (but funny cartoon ;-) )

Kenya has made a major move towards broadband access. There was an Economist Article(June 20th issue: “It may make life easier and cheaper”) about this. Other title was “East Africa gets Broadband”

While working in Southern Africa in the 90s, one of the issues we came across was the fact that many cables were being ripped up and stolen (more rife there due to lack of security in remote areas). In seeking the copper telephone cables, the new fibre cables, and electrical (yup, a few thieves were fried) were collateral damage. Which is one of the reasons cellular networks were a godsend.
I hope Kenya publicises the fibre cabling well so that cable thieves are aware of their properties and resale value if ripped up: almost zero.
