The EU budget is being discussed
A Two tier Europe. Not unlike other federated countries. Some states are net contributors, others net receivers but maintain unity.
However, nevermind discussing unity amongst the EU states, what about within some EU countries?
This weekend Catalonia has local elections and the question whether to gain independence is being asked. I imagine the Basques are watching closely, too. Scotland will have its referendum in 2014. Flanders & Wallonia may yet split.
A few months back I would have scoffed at the idea (I’m part of the (very small) minority view in the UK that supports an EU federation); now I’m not so sure.
