Of course a lot of those land mines are simply miscues on his part – making inflammatory statements (intended or not) by not thinking carefully about whom he was addressing. On the other hand, he’s ticked off a lot of Christians with his statements that they were really Church, so perhaps there should be some mines with crosses on them.
Our Holy Father would do better to simply preach the Gospel and remind the Jews and the Muslims that there is no hope for eternal life outside of being in Christ.
Then, as did his predecessors, let the chips fall where they may.

Luther was a demon possessed madman who cleaned nobody’s clock. The Church is still around and still ticking. She is still making converts to the Truth which was given to the Apostles. The fact that a few popes did not live the message does not mean the message was wrong – it means they were wrong.
