There was no recount demanded. Where did that come from?

It was probably drawn at the time Obama had won but Romney had not yet conceeded.

Romney isn’t demanding a recount, but the right is implying that the will of the people has been subverted, by those “Other” people who aren’t represented by old white dudes America.
    .
Maybe this is just the way it is in Kenya, in that the president needs to be sworn in at night, with the military at his side. Meaning they don’t comprehend the American process.

The “Kenyan lens” is sort of like Chuck Asay’s “Biblical viewpoint.”

I was trying to figure out the scene with regards what I know (very little) about East African politics and…drew a blank. What’s with the military dude in the lower half? Why is it night-time while being sworn in? Wtf is Gado on about?

The margin of victory in 49 of the states was greater than the threshold for a free recount – if Republicans want a recount in those states they would have to pay for it. I believe they could askl for a (free) recount in Florida, but even if that resulted in Romney willing Florida, he would still lose the popular vote AND fail to get enough votes in the electoral college.

Surprising that in Kenya the Obamas are depicted as ugly.

This particular strip is just stupid, for the simple reason that neither Romney nor his campaign ever requested a recount, let alone demanded one. What really happened was that some idiots read a faux news site called the “Duffel Blog” that said some military absentee votes were never counted and that there would have been enough to change the outcome. Those idiots then began clamoring for a recount, but without bothering to check to see if there were any actual facts. The Duffel Blog is a well known military & veterans satire blog, very much along the lines of The Onion and states so very clearly. Apparently, the writer of this strip got sucked in with along with those idiots. I’ll cut the writer a little slack on the unfounded assumption that he may not have been familiar with American style satire sites. Or he may not have cared one way or the other and decided it was worth publishing whether it had any accuracy or not.
