Carrots I always have trouble with, and rarely ever have them more than 2" – 3" when I do pick them for some strange reason. I don’t mean I pick them within a few days or weeks of the green, leafy tops showing up, I’ll wait until the tops look like they do in the store when you get a bunch that still have the leafy tops on them, that’s like 12" or more of greens with the carrot itself being about the same length. But when I grow them and harvest a few months later the carrot looks about like Booker’s while the leafy part is heavily developed.

I drove over to portland and the Queen Anne’s Lace (the carrot before it was bred up to it’s current size) was blooming all over the place. Booker would do better to try to get carrots along the highways of the west side of the cascades.
