Poor, poor Sheldon (yes, even I [emphasis on “I”] remember “US Acres” on early 90s TV show “Garfield and Friends” with the late Lorenzo Music).

I remember US Acres in the Sunday comics during the late-mid through the late ‘80s. Wasn’t until “Garfield and Friends” that I realized Roy wasn’t the villian of the strip but just a practical joker.
However this strip better explains why Sheldon never fully hatched than the episode of “Garfield and Friends” did. Who can blame him, what with his brother and father-mother (or is that mother-fater, not sure if Orson’s gender should decide if father comes first or second) making fun of him before he can hatch it’s no wanoder he only hatched his legs.

I’ve loved these characters for years! So cool to finally get to see their earliest adventures! Thanks, Mr. Davis!

Actually, they did try hatching him in the show once, but there was just another shell under the first one.

According to the cartoon, Sheldon somehow got shold of a newspaper, and decided the egg was better than the world. After he hatched, and was just an egg with feet, the animation changed to eliminate the egg holes.

No, I was refering more to the episode of the show where Orson explains why Sheldon is a shell with legs. He’s talking directly to the audiance in the episode and says that Sheldon managed to get a TV into his shell and based on what he saw on TV decided to not fully hatch. He even says “don’t ask me how he managed to get the TV in but he did.” It like a season or two before the episode you’re talking about if I remember correctly.
