The costume was brown and gray because they showed up better in black and white. When the show switched to color, it never really looked right…
..
The series was still better than Smallville. There, I said it.

When I was a little kid, people tried to tell me he died because he thought he could really fly, and jumped out the window!

We all heard some version of that story. Mine was he was shot by someone trying to see if he really could ‘stop a bullet’. Like the man said, it will always be a mystery.

Christopher Reeve’s still the best Superman. RIP.

Story I heard was that he believed that he was bullet proof and shot himself to see ifit was true. Favorite theory for murder is that his fiancee and her “friend” killed him and tried to make it look like suicide.

That’s the one, he simply shot himself in the head, no mystery.

It was a sad day in June of 1959 when this little 5-year-old heard the news.

My mom told me it was a suicide. Only when “Hollywoodland” came out did I know that there was any dispute.
I liked the B&W series as a kid, when I didn’t mind heroes who rarely came close to failure. Nor did I realize at the time that it didn’t make sense for Superman to duck a thrown gun.
