    @Steve McGarry
    A Rocky as impeccable as your Penguin, Steve. Masterful.

    He appeared in several “classic” original Twilight Zone episodes as well. One of the most memorable was the bank clerk with very thick glasses that loved to read and was the sole survivor of a nuclear attack.

    Yes, “Time Enough at Last”. He also appeared in “The Obsolete Man”, “Mr. Dingle, The Strong”, and “Printer’s Devil”. ;)

    He developed the Penguin laugh because he was not a smoker and was choking on the cigarette smoke. And don’t forget “Of Mice and Men”.

    I caught a movie on the TCM channel he did when he was very young. I don’t remember the name of the movie, but he was a mechanic and was driving someone’s car back to them and this girl thought he owned the car and was rich. It was a wonderful romantic comedy.

    Again, we read of the ‘Witch Hunt’. What a crock. The CPUSA had many members in Hollywood and the government. Considering that Stalin murdered or starved to death 60+Million of his own people, while Mao had even more blood on his hands, you’d think that folks would’ve stayed far away from such affiliations. Meredith was a fantastic actor, but mischaracterizing the attempt to expose subversives as anything other than honorable is lame.
