Seems like if you wanted fewer abortions, you’d want more use of birth control.

But everyone here is supposed to be the same religion, and all of us follow all the rules all the time! At no other point in American history has ANYONE had premarital sex, or been raped, or been too poor to have another child. Just watch “Leave It To Beaver” – that was what everyone was like up until these video games came about and caused kids to have sex.
At least I think that’s how the rant goes,,,

Kasich takes orders from the Koch brothers.
If you want an abortion, you must have an ultrasound made and undergo weeks of “education” and then a fetus heartbeat must not be detectable. One Legislator says the heartbeat will be detectable within six hours of conception.

terrible ideas = informed consent also requiring abortion places to be clean and have a hospital arrangement in case of complications

Except that the cons aren’t proposing those ideas. They want to give rights to a fetus, eliminate birth control, and shut down abortion clinics. Much more important than jobs ya know!

Like any other state in the Union, the wealthy of Ohio will never lack for clean safe abortions no matter what Kasich has to say about it.

Kasich is defunding Planned Parenthood & shifting the money to crisis pregnancy centers. Problem is the overwhelming majority of those places offer none of the medical services PP offers like STD screening, pap smears or mammograms. Once again, the GOP is showing how little they care about women.

the most of the planned parenthood locations do not do mammograms but do funnel $$$ to favored politicians

“the most of the planned parenthood locations do not do mammograms but do funnel $$$ to favored politicians”

Are you going to post legitimate citations for your assertion, or should we just assume it’s utter BS?

planned parenthood at it’s most busiest time only did 3% of abortions and doesn’t do that now.

wbr is nitpicking. PP provides a huge amount of badly needed medical to (mostly) low income women. The crisis centers do not employ medical staff, which still doesn’t explain why they give blatantly false information.

Just found another fact: CPCs are not bound by HIPAA laws, since they are not in fact medical facilities. Women who visited CPCs have had their employers & relatives informed that they were pregnant & seeking an abortion.

The bill that Kasich just signed actually limits the ability of abortion providers to get transfer arrangements with hospitals. This isn’t about protecting womens’ health.

a few takeaway points from this appalling bill which has been quickly, quietly snuck into being:

    - Rape crisis centers will operate under a state-imposed gag order — rape-crisis counselors will face new restrictions when telling impregnated rape victims that they can legally terminate their pregnancy.

    - The budget effectively defunds Planned Parenthood clinics in the state.

    - There’s a provision to require women seeking legal abortions to undergo a state-mandated, medically-unnecessary ultrasound — even if women don’t want one, and if their doctor doesn’t recommend one. Ohio state government has just put itself between the patient and the doctor, and mandated a medically unnecessary medical procedure without allowing for the patient’s OR doctor’s wishes to be taken into account.

    - Women will also be required to pay for the state-mandated, medically-unnecessary ultrasounds they do not want and their doctors do not think they need.

    - Physicians will be legally required to deliver a Republican-written speech to women seeking legal abortions. Whether the doctor believes what’s in the script, or even wants to say those words to his or her patient, has been deemed irrelevant.

    - Clinics that provide abortion services will be required to have transfer agreements with local hospitals, but the bill then bans public hospitals from establishing those agreements, which is a rather transparent play in the hopes of shutting the clinics down.

    - And Republican policymakers in the state decided to redefine the words “pregnancy” and “fetus” in state law — the budget decides that a woman is pregnant even before a fertilized egg is implanted in the uterine lining. The effect of this policy may prevent a woman from using an IUD in the state of Ohio.

Funny how the Republicans are all about freedom, protection of individual rights and small government – except when they aren’t.
