How do you know they were texting each other? Did you see their screens? Heck they might have each been texting their significant other somewhere else.

As each one would send a message, the other would laugh, then immediately text something back. Then the other would laugh, or whatever. The timing was TOO perfect for them to be texting anyone either then each other.
