Jules Feiffer has described Tony Auth best, "His perspective is that of a bemused and often angry comic historian. Irony, never a favorite form with Americans, is his meat and potatoes. He is not smug, and though he can be mean, he is never mean-spirited. Auth is a moralist and an optimist. He insists, even in this day and age, that hope is more than the name of a right-wing comedian or the shtick of a reactionary president."

I think every Congressman should have to take a weapon to work. Also the public viewing area at Congress should be filled with people having open carry, semi-automatic weapons. Let’s see how they like it!

Disclosure, I used to be Dredpiraterobt$.
.
Yup! Note the NRA flag above the Stars and Stripes. Which one do YOU think Congress pledges allegiance to?
.
Don’t make this about more or less of what ya got! Make it “I’m goona tell you how it’s gonna be! You’re gonna give those guns to me! I will trade you for these guns here, you’ll have some guns so don’t you fear!”
.
New technology! That’s the way to go!

I’ve seen both nicknames, but I don’t believe at the same time. Would you like to elaborate? Flagged to death?

Ok so what is your point?

The Killing stops when the Large Active Criminal Class is Incarcerated and Mentally Challenged are under Active Supervision……..Will the Dem Libs support an actual cure or go for their Agenda????

Depends how YOU are serendipidously defining “mentally challenged.”

“An armed society is a polite society.”
This keeps the Pete Rogans of the world from “stabbing them in the back”.
Those of you who feel disarming citizens is the answer, why don’t you take a stroll through the rough side of D.C. after midnight?
No guns allowed in D.C. so it should be perfectly safe, right?

Nope Dredpiraterobt$ was not flagged to death (at least he was working yesterday, far as I knew) My usual internet name is Dredpiraterobts, I’ve used it for a number of years, it has a few different email addresses attached to it.
.
When I first came here in around 2006-7 (I guess) I used Dredpiraterobts. I told Go comics to ban my name in that I was annoyed with the capricious way that posts would disappear etc.
.
I continued to post for a while until I noticed that nobody could hear me. They’d ask whatever happened to good old DPR right after a DPR post. It was wierd in a very cool sort of way that I’ll never be able to experience quite the same way (I always suspect it now).
.
I left the site for about a year and then reregistered as ReasonsVentriloquist. But one day I lost the cookies that had my password on it and I could not remember what the email address I had used to sign up was. So I opened a new account as DPR with a $ instead of the s because that original DPR is still closed. I never liked the $. It bothered my aestetic. So when I found an old computer that still had my ReasonsVentriloquist account cookies installed, I reset my password and now I am back to RV, and I’m Happy.
.
There was a short time when I had RV on the home computer and DPR$ on the work computer and so at night or weekends I would appear as RV and weekdays I was DPR$.
.
My good friend Donald Williamson decided that that was evidence that I was a troll (because he was mad at me that I had the temerity to disagree with him on a particular issue…He’s kind of an a hole like that). I just want to avoid any confusion, and that’s the whole story. Thanks for asking.

@jack75287
I guess I said something to you three times, but at no point am I trying to cut you down, I’m simply showing you why you are wrong in the particular case. It just feels to you like I’m cutting you down because you barely have the one leg to stand on so you’re overly protective of it.
.
I don’t know what you are questioning here?
.
1. The debate that the NRA wants to have (and the stoopid Democrats seem willing to give them) is over the second amendment and the private ownership of guns.
.
Ironically, the NRA knows that the left is reasonable enough that a significant minority will agree with the second half of the second amendment and the net result will be that the Left doesn’t have the votes to outlaw guns, and so that means that coming out of the other side of this the NRA could actually have laxer gun control and more gun rights.
.
This debate shout not be about who has the right to own guns. This needs to be about what safeties the general public has from the improper discharge of those guns.
.
There is a solution to the gun crisis in this nation. That solution is Technological in nature.
.
If you don’t know what I mean then that says to me that you have not read the doxens upon dozens of posts I written where I describe GPS sensors in new guns that disable the weapon in predetermined areas (the owner’s house can be exempted)
.
Trigger mechanisms should depend on a finger print reader which is set at the time after purchase when you go to the local police and they set the weapon for the registered owners.
.
Bullets have a FailSafe RFID tag built in that alerts security when a bullet comes into an RF protected zone, and the firing cap on the bullet is disabled until the bullet leaves the RF zone.
.
Current bullet sizes are outlawed, you have a transition period during which you can sell your supply or trade it in for the new sized bullets which fit into the new guns but cannot fit into the old ones. All your old guns are obsoleted. You can trade them for new guns or you can hang them on a wall.
.
That’s my point.
.
So what do you say? Are you on board? Or are you going to continue to work to aid and abet murderers?

@DrCanuck
And I’m not sure I want “Onguard” to decide who is part of a “Large Active Criminal Class”. Or rather, I’m sure I don’t.

@TimeWeaver
I’m sure the NRA want’s the guards to be private. I hear Black Water needs work, now that our involvement in Iraq is scaling down.
