Jules Feiffer has described Tony Auth best, "His perspective is that of a bemused and often angry comic historian. Irony, never a favorite form with Americans, is his meat and potatoes. He is not smug, and though he can be mean, he is never mean-spirited. Auth is a moralist and an optimist. He insists, even in this day and age, that hope is more than the name of a right-wing comedian or the shtick of a reactionary president."

It is kinda’ amazing that Florida IS shaped to represent so many Republican candidates in the last 12 years.

No, No, No! Do NOT get complacent! That’s what they, the GOP, wants! They have operation “ORCA” out to keep you from voting. Report every one of them to the FBI if they approach you while waiting in line! You have a RIGHT to vote. You don’t have to answer ANY questions by campaigns, volunteers, Gestapo-like “figures of authority”, ONLY the officials that supervise the actual voting. Let the FBI take care of all the fakes…

Vote yourself into poverty, vote for Romney / Ryan. The GOP only cares about millionaires.

Part of Romney’s problem is that Mormons take care of their own and the idea that a whole country should feel so united that they would want to take care of each other is just foreign to his thinking. (Other Republicans don’t have the same excuse.) His playing around with food donations just shows how silly his wanting to privatize FEMA is.

Tony Auth’s N1 toon is presumptuous. It presumes we know the path Mr. Romney is going to take, yet over the last 12 years, Mr. Romney has changed direction many times. These changes in course/policy/convictions are well recorded and easily found. Fox news can show you may from the time they were working against Mr. Romney prior to the RNC Convention. The cartoon also gives no hint at what happens should “hurricane” Mitt ends up sitting in DC for 4-8 years. Will there be severe damage, or just wind and rain? As no one knows Mr. Romney’s actual goals, and the media has failed to hold him to any details, even his most strident supporters don’t know whether they are going to get the conservative they want, the moderate this nation needs, or….?
Not a helpful cartoon, it seems a little like premature gloating. Mr. Auth may find he was the blowhard at this moment, but in less than a week, we’ll know.
Respectfully,
C.

Yeah the limp phallus shape of Florida was the source of many of our schoolboy snickers. Thanks. That was a tasty tidbit from within the worn sofa cushions of my mind, a piece of Cracker Jack from way, way down.

When the oceans rise ten to twelve feet (at least) within the next hundred years, the land area of Florida (indeed of all the coast lines) will shrink greatly. Nothing will resist the force of the oceans, as we saw from pictures of the tsunamis.

It’s 3 minutes left in the fourth quarter and we have a 3 point lead. That team wins the game 79% of the time, but it is not impossible to lose (especially considering the voter suppression efforts of the GOP) so we have to keep fighting til Wednesday morning. We must make sure that Romney doesn’t get to appoint supreme court justices.

No, the dead (at least from the neck up) vote for Capt. Filp-flop.
