Jules Feiffer has described Tony Auth best, "His perspective is that of a bemused and often angry comic historian. Irony, never a favorite form with Americans, is his meat and potatoes. He is not smug, and though he can be mean, he is never mean-spirited. Auth is a moralist and an optimist. He insists, even in this day and age, that hope is more than the name of a right-wing comedian or the shtick of a reactionary president."

A Englishman was speaking with a Hindu holy man, trying to demonstrate the ridiculousness of the holy man’s beliefs.
Says the Brahman, “The world rides on the back of a great elephant, which in turn stands on the shell of an immense turtle.”
“But what does the turtle rest on?” asks the Englishman.
“On the back on another turtle,” says the Brahman.
“Ah,” says the Englishman, “but what does that turtle rest on?”
“Another turtle.”
“And,” smiles the Englishman, "what does that turtle … "
But here the Brahman interrupts him. “Now, young man, I know you are trying to do, and I have to tell you, it won’t work. … It’s turtles all the way down!”
The scientists will never quite explain the universe, I suspect. There will always be another particle, always another level of complexity. The universe was made to keep us busy.

“(The secret of the Dark Matter is safe with them.)” They clearly have no energy, dark or otherwise.

They havent found THE higgs particle – just A higgs particle (in other words what they believe is the closest thing possible to the theory about the higgs particle). As with all other theories its this way until proven otherwise.

Can anybody translate (German I think)?
This cartoon looks to be about a foreign election but the drawing suggests where they found the Higgs Boson.

Buddhist’s have long known for a long time, that the universes are well, made of “nothing”. Quantum mechanics is bearing out that the “philosophy”, is far, far, closer to reality, than the book created by Man, to create a deity in his image. The most solid object is, of course, almost entirely, “nothing”.

Funny. I don’t quite get the German, but it works visually.

There is a website called Dropping The Science that tries to give simple explanations of complex science subjects. I am thinking of “A Solid Explanation,” which is on page one today, but as articles are added it may be on page 2 soon.

I posted this elsewhere and I have to go watch Jeopardy, enjoyed posts.
A Higgs Boson walks into a church.
The priest says “We don’t allow Higgs Bosons in here.”
The Higgs Boson says, “But without me how can you have mass?”

Best I can come is:
Scientist: “Do they have a newly discovered, but again vanished higgs boson seen somewhere?”
Woman: “They think that God particle? No! But I look in to garbage!”
I never got the germans. Wheres morty, maybe he can explain it better?

The Higgs-Boson particle destroyed the earth in Lexx.

I like that many scientists resent it being called The God Particle. HAHAHAHA.

Maybe one day they will figure out what they can do with the Higgs Boson particle.
