My brother was the one who got the bruised knuckles in our family. It was years later the church settled the abuse suit filed by other kids who’d been in the same school, at the same time. Makes me wonder why he was so brutal to his own kids later in life.

As Auth and his ilk will never draw, a similar scene is happening in islamic countries, only instead of rapping knuckles they’re cutting off hands (and heads).

And this is where you made your first mistake. Never has IEO or any other conservative made that statement. The base belief is that each one of us is free to make those choices for themselves. It is the anti-everything movement in this country that is insisting that we all conform to their way of thinking.

You are not required to go to any church.
You are not required to patronize any business.
Hell’s Bells, you are not even required to vote.

But because someone may not agree with another persons beliefs, they have to remove all evidence of that belief so as not to “offend” them.

    Is that you WC2000?

I don’t keep up with church news. Is this a general purpose ’toon or is there a recent story about nuns being disciplined by the leadership?

    @irisheddie,

you are mistaken. So long as the church takes taxpayer money, in the form of ‘so called ’faithbased initiatives’, they certainly do belong to the taxpayer. 4 billion dollars last year.

you can’t have it both ways.

and even if they didn’t take our taxpayer dollars, they can not abuse our citizens, physically or sexually, yet they do.

essentially the taxpayers are paying the church to settle abuse cases, then put some more in their pockets for their trouble.

    very very sad.

Then can we count on yoou to shut up about all things that are not Catholic/ Like whether a non-Catholic has to jump thru your hoops to get an abortion? Thought not.

In a stinging “doctrinal assessment,” the Vatican accused the Leadership Conference of Women Religious – an umbrella group representing most American nuns – of numerous grave breaches of doctrine and decorum.
    .
The report, four years in the making, found that the nuns promoted political views at odds with those expressed by U.S. Roman Catholic bishops, “who are the church’s authentic teachers of faith and morals.” The Vatican chastised the nuns for airing discussions about the ordination of women, the church patriarchy and ministry to gay people.
    .
The Vatican also rebuked the nuns for spending too much time “promoting issues of social justice” while failing to speak out often enough about “issues of crucial importance to the life of the church and society,” such as abortion and gay marriage.
    .
Determined to cleanse the sisterhood of “radical feminist themes incompatible with the Catholic faith,” the Vatican appointed Archbishop J. Peter Sartain of Seattle to effectively take control of the Leadership Conference, rewriting its statutes, supervising its meetings, and investigating its relationships with politically active groups.
    .
Officials of the nuns’ leadership conference said they were “stunned” by the crackdown. But Catholics who have studied the growing rift between the church hierarchy and American nuns said it was a long time coming.

B is worse than A. Therefore A is justified in continuing his bad behavior. Hmm, the logic appears a bit tenuous…
