Jules Feiffer has described Tony Auth best, "His perspective is that of a bemused and often angry comic historian. Irony, never a favorite form with Americans, is his meat and potatoes. He is not smug, and though he can be mean, he is never mean-spirited. Auth is a moralist and an optimist. He insists, even in this day and age, that hope is more than the name of a right-wing comedian or the shtick of a reactionary president."

Santorum has said time and time again he’d use the power of the federal government to impose his religious views on the country. In fact, all he seems to talk about is his religion.

It’s odd that politicians want to impose their particular religious beliefs on the populace, but most clergy do not. Impose being operant. here.

Which is the most spectacularly stupid move he could have made. What the heck was Senator Sanctimonious thinking?
Before the last round of primaries. Romney and Gingrich were making speeches bashing Obama ( and each other ) , and then leaving without speaking to a single voter, Santorum, meanwhile, was getting out among the people and talking kitchen table issues with them. one on one.
And it worked, while Mitt and Newt were perceived as aloof and distant from the masses, Santorum was seen as a ‘regular guy’….and he ended up as the Republican front front runner because of it.
So, what did he do next? Did he continue with the strrategy that had worked so well for him thus far? Nope, he went on a fire and brimstone ‘prayer campaign’.
Huge
Honkin’
Error.
The American people are not iintrested in social issues, the want jobs and a better economy. The Tea-Party Republicans understood that all too well in 2010. That’s why didn’t start pushing their social agenda until AFTER they were sworn in.
Furthermore, if you’re seen as ‘smarter than you’, as is Gingrich, you’re seen as a snob. If you’re seen as ‘richer than you’, as is Romney, you’re considered an even bigger snob.
But if you’re seen by everyone as,
‘HOLIER than thou’, you’re seen as the biggest snob of all, and that’s exactly the image Santorum has been cultivating ever since the sweep. This kind of thing may go down well with the religious extremists in the GOP, but not with the majority
And that, I believe, is also why the latest polls in Michigan show Santorum in a dead heat with Romney, a place where he was running away with it only a few of weeks ago.

As an unaffiliated voter (fed up with both parties and their concern more for their own party than the American people) after seeing the Super Bowl commercials, I think Clint Eastwood ought to run. He did run for mayor os Carmel Ca when he got fed up with a mess there and when he won and fixed the issues, he refused to run again. I.E. He ran to fix problems, not to be in office, nice idea.

Santorum has become utterly terrifying. He was always way too right wing for me, but now he’s fallen off the oak tree. Terrifying!

Repeating it three times doesn’t make it any more true. (And what is this Republican preoccupation with stuff being forced down their throats?)

That’s not a catholic cross, where’s the jesus. The cross should be a proper catholic cross and there should have been a paple hat. The Pope will be running things through Santourm

Worst impression of Gilda Radner’s Emily Litella character I’ve ever seen.
( You’re supposed to say, ‘nevermind ’AFTER you realize you’re spouting nonsense, not before. )

Political Correctness? And here I thought it was the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution which assures all Citizens of this great Country to worship as they see fit or not at all if they so desire. Since the Republicans are so big on the Constitution, I am surprised you are not aware of this feature of that document.

Tower, I know the persicution complex is common among christian bible thumpers, but at the rate things are going, christians like you and santorum are getting ready to take away the religious liberty of anyone who ISN’T a christian before atheists or muslims do it. Do your self a favor and walk a mile in the shoes of an atheist or a muslim. Then you will see who’s religion is being shoved down peoples throats.
