This is a fitting image as the hungry human family is about to total 7 billion. And in another 12 years or so, we should total 8 billion. Eat your (mother’s) heart out.

Oh good. Here we go again. Another round ‘The world is doomed’, but our friends, the Chicken Little Brigade.

Anybody remember when, in the 80’s the CLB claimed that if current pollution rates conntinued, the world would uninhabitable by 2010? Well, pollutoin got worse, and yet here we are.

Or how about the Global Cooling scare of the 1970’s. Some of us are old enough to actually remember the push to cut down trees to stop the world from cooling. That’s right folks, the environuts actually proposed cutting down large swatches of tress to warm up the planet again.

THIS, is who you retards are following….

@greyhare: Global cooling scare of the 70’s? I remember no such thing. I do remember that there was a year in which the temperature did not increase, even tho the carbondioxide levels did, but that was the year when atmospheric particulate pollution maxed out. Then the temps started to increase again. Is this “global cooling scare” sorta like the ‘environmentalists proposing that we make ethanol from corn’ in order to conserve petroleum? Actually, environmentalists did not, but big agribusiness did. What a waste of taxpayer subsidies! Climate change and corn-to-ethanol are similar in that one day people will agree with 98% of scientists and the corporations and their propaganda machine will again be proven wrong.
.P.S. Hint: Don’t get your environmental information from Rush. He is neither learned nor truthful.

I have followed Tony’s work for years on the NY times website and I just wanted to say: he is the BEST! Trenchant, witty, pithy, but most important, insightful, “deep” and timely. He consistently outclasses some other very fine cartoon artists by his uncanny ability to see beyond the trivial, cheap momentary political cycles and capture the prevailing Zeitgeist of our troubled times. His work is special because it touches on the larger, enduring foundational issues that threaten us. Today’s exceptionally clever cartoon is a perfect example. People like Tony and Jon Stewart and Michael Moore and Ralph Nader, et. al. offer the intelligence that may save us yet. Good luck to you Tony and keep on working, Man!

Population is increasing at the same time arable land is disappearing, from several cause, all related to population increase, not a good model to project from.

“Too bad, it is the countries who cannot feed their own people who insist on no birth control and endless births…”

Pray tell which countries insist on “no birth control and endless births.”
