Yeb, the last 10 years have been the coldest in a long long time.
Really now it is 2060? what happened to 2012?
Funny you never hear it when one of them there scientist stands up and says he was wrong.

Hey Auth, keep up. It’s not warming anymore. It’s Global Climate change. Since it doesn’t really seem to be warming all that much.

More leftist propaganda designed to help every person in the West become slaves to totalitarian government, just like all the people in the East already are…

PS the techniques used to defeat “Hitler and fascism” would cause all of today’s feminized males to throw screaming, crying temper tantrums. Firebombing Dresden, nuking Hiroshima etc

Using today’s “boo hoo all civilians are innocent even though they enable their governments” standards, America and the West would have lost world War 2.
    BADLY.

harleyquinn and kensurg, let’s at start with a basic understanding of the difference between climate and weather. Weather is what happens locally at a particular point in time, e.g., right now it is rainy and the temperature is about 65 F where I am. Climate is a long term average of weather conditions either for a particular area of the earth or averaged over the entire earth. Usually it is averaged over at least 30 yrs.

It might be possible that where you two live it has been cooler for a few years. It might even be that global climate change will cause your area to become cooler over the long term depending on how rainfall, ocean currents and wind patterns are changing. For example, if the Gulf Stream changes course due to temperature changes in the oceans, England could end up with a colder climate even if the overall global temperature average is higher. Don’t confuse what is happening to you locally with the global average. They’re not necessarily the same.

Globally, the temperature average has been higher than normal for the last decade, and the best scientific models of how greenhouse gasses are affecting the temperature balance of the earth indicate that we are not only experiencing average global warming, but that the rate of that warming is actually more rapid than the estimates from around 2000.

Does this mean that the yearly average global temperature will march lockstep to higher temperatures? No. There are other short term factors that can cause the average long term rise to fluctuate from year-to-year, e.g., large-scale volcanic eruptions injecting large amounts of dust into the atmosphere or the 11-year cycle of sun spots. But these shorter term events do not change the longer term trend.

If you would like to understand this better, I can point you to the literature you would need.

Nope, and the evidenced is on my side. And yes i understand the difference from weather and climate do you? If you did and you looked over the last thousand years or so you might understand we are heeded for another ice age and it has nothing to do with the demon CO2 as preached by the church of gorebull warming.

All right Harley, let’s SEE that evidence you claim to have on your side.

What Simon said. Show me the proof for your assertions. In my case, I suggest you start with the literature associated with the latest IPCC report.

They’re making plans to sail across the Artic Ocean, because they expect it to be sufficiently free of ice soon. That ought to be a clue to all but the Entirely Clueless.

Why would a wanna-be totalitarian choose Global Warming as their secret horse to smuggle world domination in under? It’s nonsense. Intelligent people everywhere are concerned about the Earth warming up because the Earth is Actually Warming Up. Denialism at this point is a symptom of mental disorder.

  11. 4uk4ata

4uk4ata said, about 1 month ago

Technically, it is possible that we may get an ice age first. However, that would be despite our contributions to the climate, not because there was no man-induced climate change.

But of course, to change would cost money, and some people do not like to spend money.

Anthony…Just because the right doesn’t buy into the extremist left relentless, money making hype machine of “man made climate change”, doesn’t mean that they want to pollute and destroy the planet. This is one of the greatest scams around, because the left will just keep saying the end is near (although it has slowed), and they will never have to show proof and they will keep regulating and raking in the cash until they have destroyed the people of this country.

The US is one of the more responsible industrialized nations already when you look at how other producer nations pollute the land, water and sky.

Of course, i’m sure Harley only failed to read the comments - which point out that the solar cycle invoked is at most responsible for 20% of observed global warming (.1 degree C vs .5 degree C) - by a mere oversight.

Or perhaps he (she?) has filters on his/her computer that remove things that would be inconvenient to her/his positions so that it doesn’t have to fret over them….

Are you seriously suggesting that an international consortium of scientists–independently conducting research that has all been published in peer-reviewed scientific literature–are part of a conspiracy to dupe the entire world that our greenhouse gas emissions are affecting the climate?

As a scientist myself, I can assure you that is ridiculous. We’re a contentious bunch who take pleasure in trying to be correct, which means that when someone else makes a scientific claim we work very hard to scrutinize their claim for support or any holes in their explanations.

Does this mean we never make mistakes? No, but the process is a self correcting one as more data are generated and more eyes assess the analyses and interpretations.

It is telling that over the years, the case for anthropogenic influence on the global climate has gotten stronger rather than weaker.

If anyone wanted to scare us into anything, they would have used something more spectacular. Like, for instance, two planes crashing in buildings (not that it was an inside job, but it certainly was used to scare us into submission -and it worked).

  23. wminfield

wminfieldGenius_badge said, about 1 month ago

Craig L….I am not saying that scientists in general are in some sort of conspiracy. There are bad apples in every profession though. I am saying that there are scientists on both sides of the issue, and many politicians on the left and shrewd business people (with the help of the MSM hype) have latched on to the side that will make them the most money.

Jeff Immelt advises the president, benefits financially from green policies at GE, and hypes the issue on at least two of his networks. A lot of the public can be duped by this hype, as many like to say a lot of the public gets duped by FOX News. Al Gore has gotten a lot of fortune and fame from his positions and questionable science that is being shown in schools.

Corosive Frog….Both sides of the aisle are guilty of scaring the public to get them to buy into agendas/decisions. The instance you reference is not the only one ever done and may have raised my taxes (the argument for going to war is not relevant to this cartoon). This green agenda is going to raise our taxes and our cost of living to the citizens in this country tremendously. All the while, China, India and much of the world don’t care about helping the environment. It will cause a lot of hardship because we will rush into it just for the sake of getting things done before 2010 or 2012 elections.

wminfield, there are not many scientists on both sides of the issue. The VAST majority are on one side: climate change is real, the Earth is warming, and it is largely attributable to humans. The argument is mostly how fast and what is the shape of the curve.

Funny you never hear it when one of them there scientist stands up and says he was wrong.

WHERE, in either of those two articles you referenced does it say that? This is what you were asked to back up, not any contention about PAST global warming, or any change of opinion by any scientist.

    How about it?
