Jules Feiffer has described Tony Auth best, "His perspective is that of a bemused and often angry comic historian. Irony, never a favorite form with Americans, is his meat and potatoes. He is not smug, and though he can be mean, he is never mean-spirited. Auth is a moralist and an optimist. He insists, even in this day and age, that hope is more than the name of a right-wing comedian or the shtick of a reactionary president."

When will the birther nonsense end?
Never. It will never end. On the plus side, it proves that the right is just as capable of extreme stupidity as left. So we got that goin’ for us.

It can’t end, because if they won’t accept copies of Obama’s birth certificate, or copies of the birth notices in the local Hawaiian newspaper, or the Republican official in charge of Hawaiian birth records confirming he was born there, then they obviously won’t accept any evidence.

Conspiracy theorists operate much along the lines of an Adam Savage comment from Myth Busters: “I reject your reality and substitute my own.”
This is also often the mantra of the hard line Republicans and Democrats as seen here in the fora.

The cartoon really depicts a genetic mutation in the makeup of the Republican Party. There are polls that indicate 28% of Republicans don’t believe that Obama was born in the United States. More than one in four Republicans proves that the Repugs are deeply disturbed. It derives from their acknowledged or closeted racism. Fascism & its thugs are a thriving evil in the U.S.

striper loves his acronyms! He knows them all!
Not everyone deserves to live, striper. Ugly false lies, even tho they may be new, should be beaten to death the minute they’re born! Stomp them! If you don’t, they grow and grow and eat all your cabbages and live in your basement and come out at night to walk the streets and eat the neighbors. And everyone around knows whose basement it lives in, but no one mentions the smell coming from the Republicans’ house cuz, well, cuz dems have trouble in the spine department.
I’m sure you’re intelligent enough to see that the weird baby in the cartoon represents an idea, right? So you’re immediate jump into your “democrats love to kill babies, yum yum yum!” one-shot flintlock just makes ya look simple.

Its a decent ‘toon but the more attention is paid to the birthers the more they’ll thrive on their own press. I don’t see how taunting and teasing unstable people is going to produce a calm, rational, logical response.
They believe something to the point that no amount of evidence will statisfy them. They may as well jump up and down yelling “THE WORLD IS FLAT!” Respond to the two groups the same way.

I cannot believe how Stupid Republicans are, let me explain.
The Stupid Republicans hate Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi.
Yet, these same Stupid Republicans are calling for Obama to resign or be removed from Office ASAP. Stupid Republicans have forgotten their 4th Grad Civics lesson in which they learn The Cession of President should something happen to our Sitting President.
The Stupid Republicans forgot, The Speaker of the House is 3rd in line to become President. Hence, if they Remove Obama, Joe Biden is President, then the Evil Wicked Witch form the West, Nancy Pelosi, is 1 Heartbeat from becoming our 1st Female POTUS. Oh, and Ms. Pelosi was not elected by entire USA, only California. Why do Stupid Republicans want a lady they despise to become our 1st Female POTUS?
I, for one, do not like Nancy Pelosi, and I do not want her to be our 1st Female POTUS by default. It’s Time for the Stupid Republicans to wake up and think, and allow Obama to complete his 1st term, and then on November 6, 2012, “We the People” have the Right to turn out 100% of the Vote and Fire him! Stupid Republicans, take notice, this is far better than having that Evil Wicked Witch of the West as our 1st Female POTUS.

Tigger, Obama was born a couple of years before Kenya became an independent nation, so the guy who offered the million dollars doesn’t have much to worry about.
The whole idea that he does have a Kenyan birth certificate was just a hoax, which spread among the birthers who were too ignorant or lazy to know better.
Plus, I think Pelosi would only move to the White House if we lost both Obama and Biden. If we just lost Obama, then Biden would become president, and appoint a new vice president.

@striper - I missed the point of your listing, I guess. What you so diligently researched was simply the proof that liberal Congresspeople voted in favor of liberal issues more than conservative Congresspeople. How is that a revelation? I would be upset if that weren’t the case. Since you seem to tie organizational acronyms to political ideologies, here’s one for you:
Conservative Republican American Party. Figure out that acronym.

Anthony says: “It can’t end, because if they won’t accept copies of Obama’s birth certificate [NFP says: …that is ‘Certificate of Live Birth’ (a.k.a. ‘short form b. c.’)], or copies of the birth notices in the local Hawaiian newspaper [compiled from public contributors (such as Mom, Gramma and Grampa Dunham - who, I’m sure, would have a vested interest in protecting his “citizenship”)], or the Republican official in charge of Hawaiian birth records confirming he was born there [ That would be Gov. Linda Lingle; who has no legal authority to peruse the birth certificates of private citizens and would in fact be guilty of a crime by doing so.] ,then they obviously won’t accept any evidence. “ [The real problem here is Americans will accept anything and anyone at face value; even when the gentleman’s own paternal grandmother says he was born in Kenya. :^D ]

I’m not sure I see why Mom, Gramma and Gramp Durham would post a birth announcement in Hawaii, unless they foresaw that he’d be running for president in the distant future.
It wouldn’t be to “protect his citizenship”, as he’d have that from his mother’s citizenship. He just may not have been “natural born”, although that term has yet to be defined.
Rather than Gov. Lingle, I was referring to this quote:
“I, Dr. Chiyome Fukino, director of the Hawaii State Department of Health, have seen the original vital records maintained on file by the Hawaii State Department of Health verifying Barack Hussein Obama was born in Hawaii and is a natural-born American citizen.”
http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2009-07-27-obama-hawaii_N.htm
How do you handle that? Just write it off as a lie by Fukino?
NoFearPup
said,

Here’s the text of Fukino’s statement, it’s a bit vaguer than what you say, Anthony and re-iterates the illegality of accessing and mis-using Pres. Obama’s real birth certificate. (If I’m the registrar, I’m saying “Yes” or “No” if I wantto keep my job):
STATEMENT BY DR. CHIYOME FUKINO
“There have been numerous requests for Sen. Barack Hussein Obama’s official birth certificate. State law (Hawai‘i Revised Statutes §338-18) prohibits the release of a certified birth certificate to persons who do not have a tangible interest in the vital record.
“Therefore, I as Director of Health for the State of Hawai‘i, along with the Registrar of Vital Statistics who has statutory authority to oversee and maintain these type of vital records, have personally seen and verified that the Hawai‘i State Department of Health has Sen. Obama’s original birth certificate on record in accordance with state policies and procedures.
“No state official, including Governor Linda Lingle, has ever instructed that this vital record be handled in a manner different from any other vital record in the possession of the State of Hawai‘i.”
[I see now that your text is from a later statement, Anthony]

Alternately, you could believe in his Kenyan birth certificate…even though it was issued a couple of years prior to Kenya’s existence, and contained the exact serial number of an online-available Australian birth certificate, along with the names of two Australian officials on it:

Anthony,
In the past you spoke about the voting record of both Republican and Democrat. You thoughts were the democrats voted conservatively. I attempted to answer that in the past. I happened to cross the information I posted yesterday that had the complete breakdown. That is why I posted it.
I do not think over half the voters are for the causes Obama and the democrats are for. That is the reason I always go to the far extreme on what Obama and the democrats are doing. I feel some people out their still has a conscience. I am aware that you and most of the others I deal with a lot do not.
I do feel that more than half of the senior citizens, African American and Latino’s do have a conscience. If so if they found out what the democrats were really doing they may not vote for them.
The stereotypes that I always mention most of them are going to stay on the democrat ticket, unless they have a life changing experience.

I’m sorry, Anthony. I’m not being sarcastic. I believe you. I’m now 95% convinced he was born in the U.S. And I have Chiyome Fukino’s word on it.
Maybe your excellent research skills can convince me even more.
What exactly is Dr. Fukino’s job where Birth Certificates are concerned? Does she only have to walk over to a file cabinet and pull out a piece of paper, see if it has Barack’s name on it, and then report to… who? Hawaiians, me , you, the media, or just anybody? Does she need a court order to examine the document? Is part of her job to validate b. c.s for Hawaiians and non-Hawaiians by public request? How seriously does she take her b.c.validation duties? Is she a Democrat? But, thank God, Dr. Chiyome can make a parsed legalistic statement to make us all assured Barak Obama is indeed a citizen of the United States. (Forgive me if I seem a little untrusting, but my dog has better documentation, at this point. ). But, I am now 95% convinced, maybe even 99%, that Barak is an American by Birth. Thank you.

PUPPY, YOU HAVE NOT SHOWN any of your proof ! WHY ?
There is a video of Barack’s grandmother saying that he was a son of the village. There are 60 language’s, There are 32 dialect’s in the language of his grandmother.
And some guy that keeps asking her and her son over and over about if she saw him being born. She is old, and uneducated, and wants to make these visitors happy. You can tell no one understood each other. Nor could she know what this American white man was trying to get her to say. It was sad what someone will do to trap an old lady in saying something she didn’t say.
If you have something then let us see it and let us make our own judgment. or stfu. Dont just tell us,…show us. PUT UP OR SHUT UP.
Why wont you sware to Jesus, that you believe Barack Obama was born in Kenya ?

You know, a lot of people have free long distance on their cell phones. If you do, I bet you could call her office, and someone could answer your questions!
Senor, first, why would you ask Puppy to swear that Obama was born in Kenya right after she said she’s 95-99% sure he was born here? Second, I’ve already pointed out that there was no Kenya at the time of his birth.

Remind them, while rapping their knuckles, that elections have consequences and Dems won. Then remove their victimized, tearstained faces from the process, pass common sense, forward-looking, can-do legislation regarding energy policy, foreign policy, climate change, healthcare delivery, the economy, immigration, etc. When republicans are not free to obstruct progress and are prevented from being validated for stubbornly saying there’s no real problem, then the world will be saved.
