Jules Feiffer has described Tony Auth best, "His perspective is that of a bemused and often angry comic historian. Irony, never a favorite form with Americans, is his meat and potatoes. He is not smug, and though he can be mean, he is never mean-spirited. Auth is a moralist and an optimist. He insists, even in this day and age, that hope is more than the name of a right-wing comedian or the shtick of a reactionary president."

China and India have no interest in cutting the throats of their growing economies to save the planet. They are not ashamed to say so either. They simply do not care.
Yet our own government criticizes us for polluting the air instead.

They are too busy saving their ecomomies to worry about saving the planet …

I think what ANandy and Right_On mean to say is that China and India are acting the way the US did during the Bush Administration, except we were busy shipping our manufacturing and tech support jobs to…. China and India.
I think David means to say our government used to think like China and India, but the new administration actually has some concern about the envirnment and wants the US to change its ways to some extent.
Of course we’re still busy shipping those jobs to China and India.

Yes China and India are problematic to the problem, but China is looking to the Gobi for wind and solar, moving more rapidly than we have. We are looking that direction, and the companies are demanding government subsidies to do anything- so how does “nasty” China, and corporate America differ?

Even Obama’s own EPA administrator Lisa Jackson said this Cap and trade will do nothing without China and India. But she was told to sit down and shut up.
Onward Global warmers marching as to war, If they can’t save the Planet, they will just tax you more.

Dear oldlegodad.
I think you should be aware that StewieZ has reappeared, hijacked your identity, and is posting under your name.

harleyquinn, as if Bush gave his EPA chief any freedom? The Bush Administration and its political appointees did their fair share of interfering EPA data, findings, rules, and enforcement. I’m half surprised they didn’t remove the words “environmental” and “protection” from the agency’s title. You act as if political interference is a partisan thing. It’s not, but your opposition to it seems to be.

I don’t know what you are bicking about but This Comic should also point out the The head of the EPA a Obama appointee has come out and said that The cap and trade will do nothing if China and India are not on board.
Further more as we have cleaned up our act they have doubled what was going on from the last 10 years. And guess what? The temp over the last 10 years has gone down. Further more Gores famous hockey stick graph was disproven 2 years ago.
So please tell me were I am partisan by making up a song that gets to the heart of the matter.

But consider this: “For what will it profit them to gain the whole world and forfeit their life? Indeed, what can they give in return for their life?” – Mark 8:36-37

I think you all mean to say that, unlike the U.S., they don’t know or care (as in the case of China) how to clean up after themselves. Maybe they need to find out how the U.S. was the ONLY country to see a reduction of pollutants since that stupid Kyoto treaty was created, and we didn’t even sign it. Viva la Free Market!!!

Sad to see Mr Auth pointing out the mote in his neighbour’s (country’s) eye while ignoring the beam in his own. But perhaps not unexpected….

In ten years, I’ll be glad to see China and India having to import all their green-tech industrial stuff from the USA.
