Jules Feiffer has described Tony Auth best, "His perspective is that of a bemused and often angry comic historian. Irony, never a favorite form with Americans, is his meat and potatoes. He is not smug, and though he can be mean, he is never mean-spirited. Auth is a moralist and an optimist. He insists, even in this day and age, that hope is more than the name of a right-wing comedian or the shtick of a reactionary president."

The Republicans better write up some more anti-gay-marriage laws to protect heterosexual marriage from adultery and divorce.

Or give in to reality. But, then again, don’t confuse them with reality, they have enough trouble with their current fantasies (or delusions of grandeur)

Even “Ike” had his little side-bar going, so 1. no big deal, and 2. hypocrisy is their only “virtue”. America’s prime “family value” is now, statistically, serial marriage- so grow up all.

But this would keep Republcan Men form marrying menr
and Republican women form marrying women.
We all know Republicans are Heterosexual :sarcasm: :snicker: Mark Foley, Republican Pedofile
Larry Crag Republican Bisexual
Hey, we already knew about barney Frank, the problem is the Republicans tried to play it like all Republicans were Heterosexual.

Former Senator Rod Grams was was another Republican family values hypocrite superstar. He voted to repeal the no-fault divorce, then gave his wife one. He didn’t want to force her to stay in a loveless marriage, however everyone else should be. He campaigned on the tried and true family values shtick until we found out he used his position to keep his good-for-nothing son out of jail and out of the news.

Watch and see the “Democratic” Values Parade as Obama the Hypocrite, takes your children’s money and sends it to France, watch him as un-elected officials take control of entire industries and wrecks the free markets, watch him as he deprives world citizens of their right to a swift and speedy trial, watch him as he sends your job to India, watch him as he exports Marxism around the globe. Watch the first Democratically elected Black-American sell out the Nation of his upbringing. (No zipper involved, or maybe, yes).

Watch Obama as he sidesteps the Union worker and sends his job overseas while the union officials get the bailout and GM tanks, watch as Obama the hypocrite destroys your healthcare as an election favor for illegals and political bureaucrats, watch as Obama forces you onto the dole with massive tax increase on businesses who then give your job away…Watch as Obama stretches a condom over your child’s cucumber…

Puppy’s so funny.
We’ve been sending billions of dollars we don’t have to other countries for as long as I can remember, but Puppy seems ignorant of it.
Wrecks the free markets? Where were you during the last 8 years, Puppy? Obama received the markets pre-wrecked!
What’s a “world citizen”, Puppy? And explain how someone in New Zealand is going to lose whatever right they have to a speedy trial due to something Obama is going to do. (This ought to be good!)
Out-source jobs to India? Where were you during the last 8 years, Puppy? Obama received the job market pre-out-sourced! Obviously you haven’t called any tech support numbers in the past 8 years.
Exports Marxism? What, you’d prefer he keeps it here?
“Democratically elected Black-American”? He’s half white and half black, so couldn’t you just as easily called him just another Democratically elected White-American?
Puppy, please don’t take this as an ad-hominem attack, because I mean it in the kindest possible way, but your post was really, really stupid.

It’s Obama’s baby now, and unemployment continues to rise. And he and his Dem buddies are still playing welfare state con-games. Am I wrong? Has he closed the borders to illegal immigration? Is he opening up new, affordable energy markets? Are they doing anything but fill their pockets up there in Washington?

You’re right, Puppy. I just can’t believe that he didn’t get everything fixed within the first couple of weeks.
Boy, I bet if McCain had been elected, and continued all of Bush’s policies, everything would be just perfect now.
By the way, I couldn’t help but notice you didn’t answer any of the questions I asked you. Any particular reason for that?
wittyvegan said, 4 months ago
You are completely right. It doesn’t matter to the normal guy if Bill Clinton had an affair or not.
cdward said, 4 months ago
Concerned, reporters have been focusing on politicians’ affairs for a long time. The thing that makes the most recent affairs newsworthy is that they are by “Family Values” guys. It’s the hypocrisy.
Fear Dog’s list of complaints are things that the Bush administration already did. The jobs fled this country at a prodigious rate under him. Health Care is already a wreck in this country where millions get no care at all (because the emergency rooms can’t handle them – I know. I’ve sat in one all night without getting care.) And the idea of depriving world citizens of their right to a swift trial? Where did that come from? Oh yeah, Bush.
Adora68 said, 4 months ago
Correct, cdward. Which is why there’s a difference between a Conservative and a Republican. True conservatives called Bush out on those things just as I would expect true Liberals (or Progressives) to call Obama out on the things he’s doing (or not doing).
I have little respect for the party wonks who drink the Kool-Aid and sing the praises of their guy whether right or wrong. I can respect a true Liberal for at least having the courage of his or her convictions even if we disagree.
Jase99 said, 4 months ago
Concerned_Human, it’s not his affair that bothers me. He didn’t just leave the country, he abandoned the state he was elected to lead without telling anyone where he was. That is the poor judgment we should focus on.
Adora68, those are my thoughts as well. I’m tired of reading the comments of someone who hates a certain person because someone on Fox News or AirAmerica told them to. Party wonks from either side all to often show their ignorance and lack of real thought. Their name calling and snide remarks help ruin the political discourse.
NoFearPup, thank you for being a prime example of hating someone because you’re told to and spouting criticism with out giving it much thought. It doesn’t seem to bother you that Bush & Co are guilty of most of your complaints against someone who’s only been in office 6 months. You also don’t seem to be concerned with the correlation in the rise in teen pregnancy to teaching abstinence only sex education. Which is worse, a 13 year old being taught how to use a condom or a 13 year old becoming a parent or contracting AIDS?
parkersinthehouse said, 4 months ago
In a perfect world there would be no peer pressure to have sex and children would practice restraint, but needless to say … I’m a Christian too, but we don’t, there is, and they don’t, and I still believe in whatever it takes to protect the chlidren. Too bad the examples we have - those in the news and in positions of authority - are such cretans.

I don’t know what all the fuss is about. Marriage in the sense we speaking about is the civil union. Nobody’s talking about forcing churches/mosques/temples etc to allow gay marriage. Is it just because they’re using the word ‘marriage’? So change it to civil union or some such. Or is there some other problem I don’t perceive?

Hey, smart guys…Obama is in charge . He campaigned for the JOB and accepted it. The point you are missing is that all of these hot button issues do not matter because the people in charge have their own agendas . The Bush and Obama hypocrisy prove it. Obama can initiate policies and push a legislative agenda for anything he wants…His answer is to soak the rich at the expense of the middle class and hand over the authority of his office to his Lib-Marxist-Socialist-EcoFreak-a-zoid, Dope-sniffing, God-hating Buddies. Have a nice day.
DrCanuck said, 4 months ago
T.P.: I would agree with you that it would be to the gays’ advantage to settle for “civil unions” and drop the “marriage” nomenclature entirely. The majority of Americans are in favour of that, all rights would be equal, and really, it makes no difference; large numbers of Americans went through non-religious civil unions yet are considered by everyone as “married.” Some churches may not consider them married, but who cares? If gay folk settled for civil unions, in a very brief time, everyone would see them as married.
Gays’ argument is that they should have the same rights as all other Americans, the right to be married included. They are quite right, of course. But a little compromise from everyone would work out to everyone’s advantage.

Delaware Bob, why do Libs have to hide who they are? How come Obama in full-campaign mode , tried to distance himself from his marxist acquaintances and ties of the past? I am actually not against new or old ideas per se, but I wonder why the man and Party who promised us Hope and Change has to hide who they really are. Why they promised transparency and openness yet give us the same smoke-filled backroom going-ons. Maybe something Obama does will work…but we won’t know why. I don’t know aboutyou, but I’m tired of being yanked around like quasimodo in the town square. _It’s past time for Americans to take back the process! _

The distinction shouldn’t be between “marriages” and “civil unions”, it should be between “civil marriage” and “ritual marriage” (or “religious marriage”, if you prefer). The institution of marriage has histories as both a civil structure and a religious ritual, and NEITHER has exclusive claim to the word.
When you get married at the courthouse before a Justice of the Peace, it isn’t a “civil union”, it’s a MARRIAGE. This option should be available to same-sex couples. There’s no need for separate (even “separate-but-equal”) sets of laws, forms, etc.
If the religious bigots don’t want to use the same word as the open-minded, let THEM change change their terminology, and start performing “religious unions.”
When my cousin got married, he and his wife referred to the church ceremony as the “sanctification” of their marriage, because they considered the actual MARRIAGE to have been completed when they signed the paperwork in the Registrar’s office.
cdward said, 4 months ago
Perhaps we could call it civil marriage. In our church, those who are married at the court house are said to have a civil marriage. We then have a blessing of the marriage to make it “Holy Matrimony.” Personally, most clergy I know would rather be out of the marriage business and in the matrimony business – ie., we don’t like acting as agents of the state, so we could and should do as the Europeans do.

NoFearPup, Obama has been in office 6 months. Bush & Co was in office for 8 years. During that time he lied to the public, used fear to push /his/ agenda (AKA terrorism), pecked away at our individual privacy and civil liberties “for our own good”, slashed taxes on the rich while cutting services to the poor and middle class, gutted environmental policies in favor of polluting industries, used corporate tax breaks to help export American jobs overseas, needlessly invaded a sovereign nation then royally messed up the occupation to the detriment of our own soldiers, violated the Constitution and international law, et cetera. Let’s not forget his “youthful indiscretions” of drunk driving, allegedly smoking crack in the White House when his father was President, and what have you.
You don’t seem to care about how much Bush has hurt this country over 8 years time, but Obama is supposed to have everything solved in 6 months? /That/ is the Bush-Obama hypocrisy. I didn’t vote for Obama, and I don’t care for some of his beliefs, but I’ll give him a little more than 6 months to fix 8 years of destruction.

I don’t expect him to have anything “solved” at this time. I do , however, expect him to be looking into what those solutions may be. Instead, we have a partisan grab bag for Dem whackos; with their primary goal, apparently, being the enrichment of themselves and their party at the expense of the American people. The general tone appears to be one of negligence and disregard for this nation’s well-being. This is the same charge leveled against the Bushies by the flamers here.

Puppy, do you ever watch the news? It’s hard to believe you do…when you talk about Obama, it sounds like the only info you’ve received is from far-right-wing nutjobs.
How about skimming through these two articles (randomly chosen from Googling “Obama accomplishments), and then see if you can come back and tell us Obama hasn’t accomplished anything:
