Bingo! Bunch of numbnuts. They are enacting the definition of insanity: it didn’t work last time, so let’s try it again, the results might change this time. Sigh. Please everyone take notes on who is now trying to bring the economy all the way down and if we’re still here come election time, fire them.

The bailouts might just enrich the people who got us into the mess in the first place. Tax cuts on people who actually pay taxes might work better. Genius, No, just concerned that we do the right thing!

JDG - that’s what Obama is trying to do, but the Republicans insist on giving tax cuts to rich people instead. Despite the Republican view that people who don’t pay income tax don’t pay tax (and therefore Obama is handing them a government check), payroll taxes are a substantial sum, and a much higher percentage of their wage than the equivalent for the rich.

Not Taxcuts not stimulus. Stop spending so much that might help.

Interestingly, John Maynard Keynes believed that “lower aggregate expenditures in the economy contributed to a massive decline in income,” as well as high unemployment.
Massive Govt spending was involved in turning around the both Great Depression in 1933 and the Recession of 1937.
Which brings us to today, when the Republicans decry Govt spending to end the current recession, and assure us that more of the same tax-cut policies of the last eight years are what’s needed to change the course of the economy.

There are 1177 Federal Agencies and Commissions listed in the federal register - none of these agencies promote the proper use of money or resources only the self servicing interests of the people in the agencies. Lets eliminate 50% of the federal government and see what the budget looks like then talk about stimulus.

Tax cuts are a great way to do this, eliminate the funds and the agencies will shrink out of necessity. Any other discussion is a waste of time and tax payer money.

Of course they both hate the Libertarian viewpoint, often it makes too much sense.
