Jules Feiffer has described Tony Auth best, "His perspective is that of a bemused and often angry comic historian. Irony, never a favorite form with Americans, is his meat and potatoes. He is not smug, and though he can be mean, he is never mean-spirited. Auth is a moralist and an optimist. He insists, even in this day and age, that hope is more than the name of a right-wing comedian or the shtick of a reactionary president."

If the best the GOP can do is Sarah Palin for 2012 then it WILL take decades!

Stewie, you call an imperial presidency, warrantless wiretapping, breaking down the walls between church and state Democratic? The only thing they did that was semi-Democratic was set huge budgets, and Reagan and Bush II between them have blown away that stereotype – the Democrats can’t begin to compete!

When Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act in 1965 the Republicans moved quickly to fill their voter base with all the Bible Thumpers and Racists who felt disenfranchised and betrayed by their Democratic President.
The Republicans compromised their moral fiber at the time and became what the Democrats had represented in my youth.
Let us see how they will reinvent themselves this time to try and save their voter base…

motivemagus, methinks Stewie’s logic works something like this….
A. Conservatism is infallible.
B. The Bush policies produced a train wreck.
C. A train wreck can not be produced by anything infallible.
Therefore….!

Ummmmm … When has logic ever had anything to do with politics?
