   This is not November
   This is March
   When feet-thick ice breaks off the shore and lets salted air reach your nose
   When a muddy spot unfreezes and lets you realise earth is still alive under her ice blanket
   The thick layer in the field of snow shrinks away under the fog and rain
   Next thing you know, an old corn or sunflower plant will mark a spot that’s ready to be sown again
   The first time you go outside without a coat and feel the outdoor air caress your skin

   We know two feet of white stuff can fall on our heads and driveways anytime but it won’t change the inevitable.

   This has been a long winter, eight years! Centuries of segregation.

   If living in Canada teaches me anything it’s that winters can last long but are never forever. You guys just gave us proof of that.

    Thank you MARLA. Yes - I too as an LGBT American am glad to see Obama having been elected. I am however greatly saddened that roughly 1,000,000 californians voted with one hand for HOPE and CHANGE and with the other for DISCRIMINATION based on sexual orientation.

    70% of African Americans in california voted for PROP 8 - constitutionally classifying me and my possibly former husband officially as second class citizens.

    So, HUMPH, please understand that there are millions of us LGBTs in California, and Arizona, and Florida, and Arkansas who today feel a little further from “the dream” than closer.

    I am cautiously optimistic to see how our community is addressed in the first 100 days. Perhaps “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” will go away. Perhaps Pres. Obama will direct Congress to pass the ENDA legislation once and for all…

    Character is defined by obedience to the Law of God, not by the fickle emotions of man. Good and evil are determined by He Who created all things, not by small and insignificant creatures who think they rule the universe.

    Obama has no character at all. Any man who would work to keep the killing of 56% of his own race going on day and night in the abortion chambers of America is a mindless idiot with no character at all.

    By the way, that 56% meant that 56% of abortions are on black women, that doesn’t mean 56% of black pregnancies end up in abortions, use you head!
