Powell got respect. His speech didn’t.

But it rapidly became evident that he’d been lied to like the rest of us.
He’s tired of being the Republicans’ “house n**r”.

I guess making him a 4 star general, Chief of Staff and Secretary of State was a sign of “mistakes of the last few years ” he talks about..

America, notice how now the Left praises Powell, when in fact they have spent the last eight years maligning everything he (Powell) stood for….

What did I say before about the Leftist convictions that change with the wind?…. Don’t ever trust any of them….

Today the love you tomorrow they’ll destroy you like they ‘ve done with the Plumber..He can’t even get a job as he has been Blacklisted by the Union….

If this endorsement by Powell doesn’t make it clear that it is all about RACE, then I don’t know what else could possibly open your eyes to this racist campaing…….

Powell was used as a dismissable gun meat in front of the entire UN, forcing him to lie blatantly about non existent WMDs. After that, he resigned with the rest of dignity he had left.
    .
    .
He got respect from almost every american, until now, when Repulsive-cans started to rip him out because of his declarations in favor of Sen. Obama…
    .
    .
Funny how reality is denied and twisted and corrupted when you are a fundamentalist fanatic of rightwing ideas…

Powell was on the war team in the beginning, but he later admitted that the whole Iraq war is a scam.

    He’s a repentant, the Mini-me of politics.

    …and admiration:
“Despite his own injuries, he managed to rescue his comrades from the burning helicopter and was awarded the Soldier’s Medal. In all, he has received 11 military decorations, including the Legion of Merit.”

The President is the Commander-In-Chief of Military forces and by the Oath taken you are bound to follow his orders until you are bound to resign your commission!
And God help the ordinary enlistee!
Now, let’s talk about heroes and courage with those who are ‘Legends In Their Own Mind’.

It’s been a while since I read Bob Woodward’s “Plan of Attack”. As related therein, Gen. Powell never seemed to be fully on board with the Iraq invasion. At one point, he makes a direct pitch to Dub’ya to stop it. But once the issue was decided, he supported it like the good soldier he was.

The Dub’ya crowd has exhausted (and then some) the Republicans good will and political capital. Gen. Powell is decent and reasonable man. He agrees with John McCain that Barack Obama is a decent man. To trash him for that choice is the sourest of grapes. I agree that is says the most about the character of the “trashers”.

Powell never liked Iraq - by his own Doctrine - but reluctantly agreed based on the phony intelligence, which was cobbled together by Cheney’s operatives. Then they had Powell present it to the UN, because he was the only member of the Administration with enough credibility. They used him, and humiliated him. He behaved as a “good soldier,” which was too bad in some ways. He’s always been a political general, but a good one, like Eisenhower.
