   Palin could actually end up the winner of the debate. The voter’s expectations about her are quite low, therefore they are easy to impress.

   Someone on another forum suggested that the Biden/Palin debate is actually going to be a yawner.

   I’ve got a feeling he may be right about that.

   From what some of the pundits are saying, Palin is really good in debates at deflecting attention away from her own deficits. She makes slightly insulting (but cute) jokes at her opponents’ expense, tells folksy little stories, anything to keep people from noticing that she isn’t answering the questions. I hope on the national stage, this doesn’t work as well as it did on smaller stages but I’m not confident.

   Um didn’t you hear her? She reads all those magazines… ALL OF THEM! Duh!

   Her strength is to deflect the question into something else. I caught a clip on The Young Turks where Couric asked her about democracy that elects people we don’t like (ie Hamas in Gaza) and Palin turned it into - the middle east is scary and Iran is evil. When ironically Iran is a democracy, a democracy that elected Imadinnerjacket.

   SimJ- I hope not. They owe us a little harmless political theater on top of the real stuff. This is the one time, tho, I wish Hillary was on the ticket. That would have been a blowout!

    I thought it was a surprisingly good debate - no real issues solved, but it showed the difference between preparation coupled with cunning (Palin) and real experience and insight (Biden). Palin came off well, which is sort of what I expected; she’s not stupid, merely aggressively ignorant. If anyone was persuaded by Palin’s winking little show, they weren’t likely to go for Obama in any case. But Biden really held it together – he was sharp.
