    The budget for sabotage is way too low. Republicans are spending most of their time sabotaging the ACA.

    Ha! Good toon Tom!
    Funny how Congress is giving high fives for completing a budget that will sink us into an even bigger hole.

    A truly bipartisan deal, the Ryan-Murray budget represents the first time in a long time the H of R have acted anything like the legislature of a nation rather than a collection grandstanding self-important narcissists who would rather sink the ship of state than see it head in any other direction but the one they command. Truly, a deal no one can love: exactly what was needed. But never fear! There are still enough spoiled brats in the Senate to stop it.

    @Doughfoot

    More than 50% of Senators support the bill. And it only takes 50 votes to declare that the filibuster does not apply.

    In addition, probably more than 60% will vote for this budget after what happened last time, when Obama’s popularity soared and the Republicans’ tanked.

    Glad to see it. I wonder if Boehner telling the tea types to go screw themselves (more or less) finally made it possible to get a budget passed.

    In the lower right corner of the toon is a statement I disagree with. Finger painting would be an upgrade for this congress. Boehner got it right this time , let the majority party govern , sink or swim is on them!

    Mostly it requires Boehner allowing something to be brought to a vote. It’s his personal obstruction that keeps propositions that are known to have sufficient votes to be passed from being voted on. Hard to be sure, but it looks like he’s still sitting on those.

    He forgot crying, whining, and the dreaded “I’m rubber, you’re glue” intellectual debate!

    What is sad is that this is an improvement over the non budgets from Obama’s administration. It is not all that great but neither side is happy so something went right.

    I think you may have Boehner and Reid confused.

    We have a completely dysfunctional Congress. If Congress were looking out for the people, Democrats would call for a 1% cut in spending, Republicans would counter with a 10% cut in spending, and they would compromise with somewhere around a 5% cut in spending.

    Instead Democrats want an 8% increase in spending, Republicans counter with no growth in spending, they compromise with a 5% increase in spending, and Democrats run to the tevee whining the Republicans cut the budget by 3%.

    Unfortunately, Toles’ cartoon only applies to the days they actually work! And I don’t count “pro forma” sessions as being at work.
