    Would be nice if some of those rightest of the right, and morally wrong, WOULD emigrate.

    Maybe if we had a prez who knew how to bring people together.

    Alas, compromise requires two sides that wish to strike a bargain or make an agreement. For five years the GOP has called compromise a dirty word, and their idea of bringing people together is having the Democrats surrender. ConGov has apparently missed the fact that every time Obama has reached out to the GOP he has gotten his hand bitten. I wonder what ConGov thinks “bringing people together” would look like? What concessions should the GOP make and what should the Democrats have to give in return?

    The third court nominee in a row blocked by the GOP. What happens to the country when the Democrats can block every GOP nominee, and the GOP can block every Democratic nominee? When legal philosophies become so polarized that no candidate for a judgeship who is minimally acceptable to one party is minimally acceptable to the other?

    Should the Senate begin confirming judges on a simple majority vote? Indeed, should the Senate begin working again on a basis of simple majority vote, as in fact it once did? Nothing in the constitution requiring the 60% majority rule.

    Is partisanship turning our system of government into a suicide pact?

    Better that than allowing millions of criminals (mostly repeat ones with serious violence involved), with little or no job skills, lacking even the most basic education, often having serious diseases, and in general just being a burden on society to become citizens…

    @ConserveGov

    By that you mean you want one who only agrees with your preconceived notions. Anyone who disagrees with you is branded “a divider.”

    And the far right anti government crowd are all welcome to move to Somalia to experience what real minimal government looks like.

    Yes, I do. It means to leave your place of residence. However, I infered the meaning of the cartoon by how it is drawn. That is, that the Republicans are against immigration and moving away from any attempt to pass legislation at “reform” in that area.
    Hence my commentary.

    Charge the businesses that use them too. Illegal is illegal. I have no problem with that whatsoever.
    However you do exaggerate the way most businesses treat illegals in their employ other than often proffering less than minimum wage to them.

    Wow, hispanics should not have the right to vote? That’s the most blatantly racist post I’ve read here yet, Michael. If you can find evidence of ONE SINGLE ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT who voted, I’ll give you some slack, but you can’t, because illegal immigrants cannot and do not vote. Hispanic Americans have just as much right to vote as white people. And I can’t see any reason why they would have voted for Romney, who had no plan anything other than big tax cuts for the rich, and more destitution for the poor.

    @Enoki

    Enoki, your analysis is based on bigotry and racism. The CBO and anyone who has actually looked at facts knows that immigration reform would lower budget deficits, improve tax collection, and improve working conditions. As Obama said, "Obviously, just because something is smart and fair and good for the economy and fiscally responsible and supported by business and labor and the evangelical community and many Democrats and many Republicans – that does not mean that it will actually get done. This is Washington after all.”

    I’m not exaggerating the average illegal. The average illegal immigrant:
    .
    Has 8 arrests for various charges (OMB study of nearly 500,000 illegals).
    Has less than an 8th grade education (approxmately 2/3rds) with many having less than a 6th grade one.
    Are the major cause of a resurgence in TB and hepatitus in the US.
    Nearly two thirds are also male and under 35 years of age (about 60%).
    Are twice as likely to end up in prison as a legal immigrant or citizen.
    Are 70% more likely to have committed a violent felony to get incarcerated.
    .
    Those are FACTS about ILLEGAL immigrants. I am not exaggerating or embellishing. They are not a population AS A WHOLE any nation would want to make citizens.
