It’s not like we have anything important to work on. Bridges and roads are self repairing, roofs paint themselves white, and there’s enough solar energy in the blacktop to fry up an omelette.

Excellent comment Taratus! And much more succinct than what I might have written.
But why a Rhino, or is it a RINO?
Hadn’t thought of roads as a solar collector before… is that an actual idea to which you could provide a link? It sounds viable if done right.

"we do need . . . to rebuild America’s infrastructure

With so many people unemployed, especially in construction, and interest rates never lower, infrastructure should have been a no-brainer.

But for four years Republicans have criticized, stymied, watered-down or voted down every attempt at infrastructure investment.

Republicans need to give us a break with this pretended interest in infrastructure, and stick to the only thing they’re capable of. Abortion banning.

    “@Genome Project

One still has to wonder in stark amazement just WHY in th’ Hell (literally) anyone is actually in Death Valley ??? – ’calibrating public thermometers at taxpayer expense?"

not a surprise. Death valley is one of my favorite places on the face of the earth. been there at least 10 times.

maybe if you read about it (on the national parks org website) it might tweak your curiosity, and maybe you’d want to see and experience some of the amazing things there are there.

oops, I guess the NPS is socialist, and we wouldn’t want any of that in aMEeriKKKa.

Some people enjoy life and want to see things. Other people are internet trolls. Whatever floats your boat.

corzak: The nouveau riche always hated FDR for being “a traitor to his class”. They never were in his class. The Roosevelts made their money when it was still Niew Amsterdam.

Good comment, if you want close to full employment you have to take some inflation.

^ Republicans do not want full employment or anything close to it. Let those people have jobs? Come on!

Sorry to butt in, but the heat reflected off the roads may be contributing to ‘GW’ or ‘CC’.

Pavement and building tends to produce ‘mini weather’ patterns in many places. Our cities themselves are probably ‘mini climates’ …

You don’t notice those things living in the cities, which themselves are heat sinks of a sort. But I live in a small town, and our neighbouring city has a steel mill. On its own, that mill and perhaps a half mile surrounding it produces clear, independent ‘weather’ patterns.

Rather than paving any more than we already have, shouldn’t we be planting trees and green cover ..?

“That is the subjugation and corporatization of America since any fool can see that Obama is no Socialist but a Plutocrat.”

They can’t see it. They are so deeply enmeshed in the partisan thing they are blind to most of the things that are happening.

    Discouraging …

You are such a treat to read, Hawthorne.
I totally agree. When Dr. Chu, Mr. Obama’s first energy secretary, said the best thing we can do to cool the atmosphere was to paint every roof and paved surface white, I laughed at the simplicity with delight, like being shown a new trick.
My driveway needs to busted out, hauled away and replace. I’m looking at products like this to replace it….
I also like the homes that have gardens for roofs.
I totally agree with you about paved roads, however… IF a rode MUST be black, and I’ve driven on many light gray roads, but… IF it must be black, having it convert heat to energy would be a little bit of awesome.
Thank you for your reply, you didn’t butt in at all and I appreciate your constant tone of civility and respect.
