    Considering Obama is faithfully carrying on from Bush but they are all carrying on for the real power the Plutocrats. Don’t be confused by the lying rhetoric.

    Don’t lose all hope yet, the media is beginning to turn on President Obama. His numbers are beginning to fall due to putting Holder in charge of the DOJ investigation and not getting a special prosecutor on the IRS. People know things are off with terrorism beginning to hit home, (Ft. Hood Shooter the Boston Marathon bombers) and the economy (no jobs, not recovered from the recession yet, and if you are poor inflation is now a factor).It is pretty awful that it had to get this bad but keep the faith.

    Meanwhile, sectarian violence is surging in Iraq….

    Yeah, we sure “fixed” that nation. What a joke.

    I love how people always say “America is the self-appointed police of the world, but why aren’t you getting involved in Syria?”.
    Which is it nimrods?

    The corporate media tends to defend a given president while in office then maybe vilify them after. Except for Nixon who they “rehabilitated” into an elder statesman.

    Then we’d better organize new nominations procedures before the next elections. If we don’t, that’s all we’ll get, both sides of the aisle.

    As one nimrod to another, the thing is, no-one is stepping forward because we all know it is going to boomerang on whoever steps in. Boots on the ground, that is. Even arms supply.
    I’m not demanding the US gets involved, why are you demanding that others should get involved? [other than humanitarian aid which all our governments are already doing]

    Britain is almost alone within the EU in attempting to get authorisation to arm the rebel groups (note: to arm, not get in with boots on the ground).
    If anything, intervening in Afghanistan and Iraq after invading them, and even Libya, has shown that all states should tread warily. That’s the real legacy of that awful invasion initiated by your government, when it was the self-appointed policeman.
    It is an awful shame. People are being massacred daily. What can be effectively done to aid the rebel groups without also arming groups who have a beef with the west? A no-fly zone at the very least?

    But of course, what will likely cause the US to intervene will be the perceived danger to its ally in the region, Israel. Nevermind if tens of thousands of Syrians are killed; if it is perceived that Israel is directly threatened, i.e. the Russians supplying Syria with missiles, then it will intervene. Until then, your government won’t. There’s no interest in Syria. That’s Realpolitik. *shrug

    The UN, the EU have failed in their diplomatic actions. Know what? It’s a regional concern. Who is already arming the rebels? Who keeps arming Syria? Get those folks around a negotiating table. That’s what our involvement should be: convincing the regional powers to intervene diplomatically.

    @omQ R

    Well, I wasn’t just singling you out. I hear the same “self-appointed” crap from our allies who then ask us to intervene, so your’e not alone.

    Regarding Afghanistan, that was not about policing the world. It was about punishing the organization, al Qaeda, that was responsible for killing 3000 Americans. Can you not see the difference? Apparently not since you lumped that in with world police thing. Let’s just agree to disagree. When anyone attacks us, we will hunt them down and kill them.
