Both the higher ups in the IRS and the White House have already stated that they will put a stop to this, so your beef is relatively meaningless. And this is even though the Tea Party organization has repeatedly stated just how much they not only hate taxes, but even the government of this country itself. If they really do not like it here, then they are welcome to go elsewhere (Somalia comes to mind, less taxes there I am sure).

The Tea Party is blatantly political. They call themselves a “party” for cripes sakes! They shouldn’t be getting a tax break. Don’t know who is worse, them or the Jerry Falwell types!

The IRS spent two years investigating the NAACP, but who cares?

No we don’t and they are not heroes. Hope that was sarcasm.

As for today’s strip it is because it is. Health care records, the IRS, the EPA add your own I know there is more.

The real reason some organizations are targeted.

The total number of “social welfare” organizations (what we used to call political action committees) who were turned down for tax-exempt status: zero.

Ironic considering that the IRS was doing its job. And it stems from 1959 when the IRS changed one word in the law and opened it up to fraud.

Changed “exclusively” to “primary” so it cracked the door for overt political groups like the Tea Party to get into trouble. They should never have been given 501c4 status.

If anything inappropriate was done by the IRS to help re-elect President Obama, why didn’t they release Romney’s tax returns?

    Harley,
you are so typical of the Obama haters. If you’d spent more time on Google than Fox you might have discovered http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0608/11257.html

Nice try but they were looking into groups that had the word Tea Party and Conservative in it, there is a difference.

“Social welfare” organizations that primarily design attack ads must not be questioned, but when a church of the “Prince of Peace” gets a threatening letter and a long audit for a sermon questioning war, that is proper to stop them. My own congregation was infiltrated by both the FBI and CIA (the CIA one was obvious to the point of a joke, the FBI hid better) under Nixon and Reagan. I didn’t hear any Reich-wing squaks then.

Oh please! The IRS investigated the NAACP, and it took 2 years to get it dropped. You asked for a citation? OMG, it was in the papers, google it!

It was in 2004, by the way, if that helps.
