The Daily Show ripped Obama last night about his handling of Gitmo. Are you suggesting that Congress is completely blocking BO and he has no more say in the matter?

It’s the answer O’s apologists always use now to excuse his failures.

After 4 years of just blaming Bush, now he just blames Congress.

Luckily for him, most of his ill-informed supporters just drink it up.

Regarding Guantanamo, the only thing Obama asked Congress for which he didn’t get was authorization to move it to another location inside the USA. Actual due process for the many people locked up inside was never on the table.

Sadly, conserevcClown the GOP has done an excellent job of thwarting progress in many areas, including Gitmo. They have been helped by a small handful of Democratic Senators from ‘red’ states to block many things in the Senate where it now takes 60 votes to do eve routine things.

Despite Boy Blunders example and your assumption Obama is not a dictator he has to deal with a GOP House and a Senate in stalemate because 48 Republicans will prevent any useful legislation to be heard.

So you think it is part of the Constitution that a minority can overrule the majority AND the will of the people? Furthermore, that a vote of 60 in the Senate should be required for ALL votes — that just happen to be proposed by a Democrat?
No wonder you think it’s all Obama’s fault. I suggest reading your Constitution a bit. And perhaps reading this: http://www.amazon.com/Even-Worse-Than-Looks-Constitutional/dp/0465031331

Didn’t O promise to close Guantanamo in 2007?"

Didn’t Congress stop Obama from transferring the prisoners to any of the civilian maximum security prisons? You don’t care about truth. All you want to do is make up lies that fit your preconceived narrative.

If you were as smart as you think you are you would know that President Obama did try to move the detainees in Guantanamo Bay but the republicans in Congress blocked him. Now he has three options, none of which are palatable to anyone with any level of integrity, morals or values. They are, leave the detainees where they are and continue wasting money on the prison in “Guantanamo Bay,” find another country willing to take them and incarcerate them where their treatment may be worse than in Guantanamo Bay, or release them back to their home countries where they will likely take up arms against the United States, if for no other reason than their treatment at Guantanamo Bay. And this is ALL on the republicans, they worked aggressively to thwart this President at every turn.

You know that none of them have even been charged? 78 of them should have been freed and most of them are on hunger strike over being in prison for On reason that violates our Constitution.

“Didn’t O promise to close Guantanamo in 2007?”

Yup. And the Republicans (as usual) were chanting not in my back yard and prevented him from doing so. Don’t believe me? Then maybe you’ll believe FIXED NEWS when they say that same slogan and blame the Democrats for it.

you guys are feeding the troll.

THE FACT OF THE MATTER IS the GOP wants gitmo opened, they LIKE that people are held for years/decades without being charged with a crime, the LOVE that places like GITMO are creating unrest and hatred for the USA amongst our ‘enemies’.

this leads to more arms sales, more war and more money in their pockets.

Congress will not fund the closing so, yes.

Again, President Obama NEVER had complete control of Congress. If there were a Democratic House now, he still would not have complete control.

The Constitution is suspended for the duration of the war, as well it should be. Having that Constitution would make us all unsafe. Every president agrees. Bush, Jr, and Obama both authorised similar things, because our President always has the Big Picture and knows what is best for us.

Don’t blame Obama! Only the Commander in Chief can close Gitmo, and, since Obama is a native Kenyan and not a US citizen, he can’t be Commander in Chief. I’m not sure who the real Commander in Chief is, but I’m sure he has good reasons for keeping Gitmo open.
